(More customer reviews)After a couple of blue screens and the keyboard failing on my, up until now ,trusty 4 yr old Dell laptop, I went shopping for a new one. Its amazing how much computer you can buy for the money now. I decided that since I mainly check email and generally just use the computer at home for the internet, that the smaller netbook size computer would be nice. I looked at Dell,Toshiba,Acer,Asus,Lenovo, and this Sony. Specs wize, they are all very similar. I liked the idea of a larger 250G hard drive on this Sony and the other specs seemed to be up to par with the rest of the lot. The one thing that sold me was the constuction quality and the styling. It is very clear from the moment you open the screen that this machine is a notch above the rest in terms of quality of construction. Its very sleek and modern looking in appearance and very light in weight. The screen is extremely bright, much brighter than the Dell in battery mode. The keys all fucntion well and are well spaced even though it is, I believe a 89% keyboard in size.
I think the key to this computer performing up to the standards that its look implies is contingent upon uping the RAM to the 2 gig max it will take. If you watch the video on youtube on how to do it its simple. Just be sure to remove all the screws so that the keyboard comes out easily and then switching out the RAM located under it becomes literaly a snap. you can buy the Ram from Amazon for around $40.00 or so and put it in yourself. Be sure to have the battery disconnected and THEN press the power button to discharge all elecricity.
Don't concern yourself abnout the fan noise as mentioned by other reviews as it's really nothing and barely audible in use. If you are looking for a thin ,light weight computer with great styling and functionality you will not be disappointed.

I had no trouble setting up the mouse, just turned off the computer and turned it back on with the mouse plugged in. Also no trouble with switching between mouse and touch pad as the mouse is too small for my hand. The downside is it lacks a scroll wheel.

Plantronics Bluetooth USB Adapter BUA-100 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the BUA-100 to work with my Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset. My company recently deployed Cisco IP Softphones. After doing a little research, I found that by combining the voyager 510 headset with this bluetooth dongle, I could use the call control button on the headset to answer and end calls just like a cell phone.
I read several reviews here from people that had tried to use regular bluetooth dongles to pair with their headsets, but none of them seemed completely happy with the result. I decided not to chance it and bought the BUA-100 even though it is somewhat pricey compared to other bluetooth adapters.
It does not work with Bluetooth devices other than plantronics headsets, so you are not getting a multi use bluetooth adapter in this, more like just a dongle to connect your headset to your pc.
The button on the dongle allows you to easily pair it with your headset. Just put your headset into pairing mode then push the button on the dongle. They will be paired in a second or two.
For range, it behaves as standard bluetooth. When I walk away from my pc, I can get about 15 feel or so before I hear a little static, which gets progressively worse the farther you go.
All in all I am very happy with the combination of this and the voyager 510 headset and would recommend it to others.

(More customer reviews)I only half heartingly reccomend this item.. solely because there isnt anything comparable out there other than a seperate keyboard .. which usually runs 19.99.. If you can find this item on sale.. i would say if you must.. get it.. its faults..
(all on ffxi as what i have played it on)
the dpad isnt very accurate.. when scrolling numbers in AH it sometimes goes left when i want to go up..
the keyboard is super sensitive.. making me tyyyyyyyyyyyyype like thissssssssssssss.
As i played it.. a few months later... the left stick began to fault.. now it veers to the left almost always.. and will move forward when i am not pushing anything. it, too, doesnt control accuratly
the vibration function will cause it to switch the analog mode off so the sticks dont work.. very annoying.
luckily.. ffxi doesnt require much in the line of exact control... so I am fine with it.. until it eventually completely quits..
the unit would be useless to control a platforming type game that requires more exact control.
To be fair, customer service did offer to fix it.. but who wants to be w/o a controller while already addicted to ffxi?

Microsoft Habu Laser Gaming Mouse (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)First thing, the drivers are poorly implemented. I followed the directions on the razer site and once I got everything done and I thought I was in the clear, I rebooted and I could never get the mouse to be seen by the drivers. again.. so I started searching for fixes and read this is an issue with these mice.. great! I returned my last razer mouse because the drivers were buggy.. sort of the same issue also, wouldn't detect the mouse sometimes.. anyways, I see not much has changed. But I was determined to get this working because I fell in love with the feel of it.. So, I did get it all working finally, but this what I had to do:
--> uninstalled all Habu software..(which is just the driver pack)
--> installed the 2.01 drivers from Razers site from a clean slate.
--> said YES to the windows warning about non WHQL drivers
--> then said NO to the reboot now option and went into the firmware folder (part of the driver pack) and installed the new firmware!! (with /no/ reboot).
--> after the firmware is successfully installed, it tells you to unplug and re-plug the Habu.. do that, /then/ reboot.
NOTE: It's very important to not reboot before attempting the firmware update because the OS and the drivers see the mouse ONLY after the driver install but after a reboot with the old firmware the mouse was never detectable by the drivers again.. it was very frustrating! anyways.. it seems any of the Habu/Razer drivers will only detect a mouse after a reboot with 2.01 firmware installed. My mouse had 1.0 firmware..
I as I said, and the more I use it the more I love the feel of the Habu.. so much like the old IME 3.0 which I still adore.. the only mouse which really just felt like a key in a lock with my hand. The buttons click is awesome and the wheel is PERFECT (resistance for up/down and depress center). The side (thumb) buttons come with an alternate panel which has the two buttons more out of the way.. I have yet to try it but that's a nice extra.. the mouse tracking is spot on! very precise and very smooth.. me likey!
giving it 4 stars because the mouse is awesome now that I have the drivers working, but wow that was frustrating.. it's a mouse for crying out loud.. it should be a no brainer install. whew.
I hope this helps some people who are thinking about this mouse!

Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Mouse Review

(More customer reviews)This mouse is not perfect but I would have given it a 4.5 so I upgraded it to a 5.
For my large hands this mouse feels just right. It moves well on my nylon mat that I use for a pad and I have tried it on a hardwood desktop with good results. The mouse has very good yaw and pitch movement and it is easy to adjust dpi setting on the fly.
It has a quick turn feature that works very well in first person shooters. you assign one of the buttons for quick turn around and as your playing if you want to check who's behind you click the button and you turn 180 degree's. If you need to change your direction fast because you can see your out numbered ahead it comes in mighty handy.
The top buttons have a good responsive click to them and I had no problem with learning the over and under side buttons, which I perfer over my old Logitec MX518 foward and aft configuration.
The weight of this mouse without adding extra weights feels about the same as the MX518. I choose to add 5 grams of weight to it and perfer it that way.
The mouse wheel has a micro feeling touch and a little too light for my taste, but I got use to it fairly quickly. The one feature I think would have made this a great mouse would to have put side push switching on the wheel for adjusting look around corners.
I think this mouse is well constructed and will hold up for a long while.
If you running windows/vista than it has two other buttons that bring up the game file and macro changing, useful but not really must have feature.
All in all a confident and very good gaming mouse.

Logitech Wireless Number Pad N305 Review

(More customer reviews)I am taking an accounting class and needed a faster way to enter numbers in my lap top. I initially bought a wired number pad, but the wire got in the way. So I got the Logitech number pad N305. My first impression after removing it from the packing was that it was big and a bit heavy. I posted pictures of it next to my regular computer keyboard and on my hand. It reminded me of calculators for people with poor eyesight.
The connection to the computer was a breeze. Files were automatically installed after plugging the receiver in the computer's USB port. Afterward, I was ready to go. Keying in numbers is easy and fast, and the keys have a nice bounce. I found the calculator hot key (top center) helpful. As I was working out problems, I was able to quickly open the calculator, do addition/multiplication/division etc, get an answer, and then enter it in my online homework.
A cool feature, one can download a software from Logitech's website and use it to program the top three hot keys to do other tasks. For instance, the hot key pre-programmed to open Excel could be re-programmed to open PowerPoint, or work as the TAB key, or Arrow up key, or open a folder of your choice. The options are endless, sort of speak.
I wish Logitech had included a carrying pouch to protect it. The back of the unit is made out of a glossy black plastic that can be easily scratched. It also shows fingerprints, smudges, etc.
Overall, it cold be smaller and lighter, but we all have different needs. So this number pad might be just perfect for you.

Once I downloaded the latest driver from the visikey web site everything worked fine. It would have been nice if somewhere on the install CD it told you what operating system the driver actually supported.
