Logitech Optical USB Mouse Review

Logitech Optical USB Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a notebook with a touchpad and I've been very happy with it until recently when the buttons starting crapping out. I started looking around for a mouse and was overwhelmed by the dizzying array of different ones out there. This is the 6th one I've tried and think it may be the one.
I tried wireless and it was okay but I'm much happier with the performance of the corded ones. Then there were some that had so many buttons I couldn't figure out what to do with them all; I kept hitting them accidentally and they usually ended up disabled. Some felt cheap and I thought the scroll wheel might actually fall off of one.
That brings me to this one. For me, this is a perfect mouse. It's not the most attractive one around but it's not really ugly. I have medium-sized hands and it fits nicely. There are no rubber grips but the plastic around the bottom is textured so it's easy to grip. The buttons are quiet and very easy to click. They are solid and don't feel like they might fall off as some of the cheaper ones do. The scroll wheel is great; it's a solid black rubber and rolls smoothly but clicks slightly too. It also has a tilt-wheel for those interested in that feature. The performance is fabulous.
You can use it without the Logitech software but if you want full use of all the features you have to download the software. If you have a slow connection this can be a real pain as the file is quite large. I ended up going to the public library and downloading it to a stick memory; it took all of five minutes. On my system (Windows XP) I found that I also have to keep the software running in the background if I want to have use of the tilt-wheel and the middle button; but you can disable it and still have use of two buttons and the scroll wheel. Really, unless you need the tilt-wheel and the middle button there is no reason to even download the software unless you have the same problem I do. When I switched to a USB mouse, my Windows Mouse settings started acting funny; they won't stay where I set them, even if I click 'Apply.' Whenever I restart, all the settings go back to Default. I don't have this problem though when I use the Logitech software.
If you want an inexpensive mouse that's easy to use and works great for moving your pointer around, and also has some additional features should you choose to use them, this one can't be beat!

Kensington 72114 Pocket USB Mouse (PC/Mac) Review

Kensington 72114 Pocket USB Mouse (PC/Mac)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this mouse for my PowerBook, primarily for use when away from home. For my large hands, I have traditionally preferred large mice, such as the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer and the (no longer available) full-size Logitech MouseMan series. However, I do find this mouse to be perfectly acceptable, especially given its portable dimensions. For me, it is much more comfortable than the slightly smaller, but more expensive Pocket Mouse SE (72118). It is comfortable enough that when I get home, I pull it out of its included stuff sack and plug it into my Kensington Keyboard-in-a-Box (64350) which serves as a two-port USB hub when plugged into my PowerBook. Thus, it also makes a reasonable compact desktop mouse.
In terms of performance, it has worked on any reasonable surface. I have had no problem using it on a variety of surfaces including solid-wood desks, laminate desks, standard mouse pads, a deeply textured couch, jeans, and the comforter on my bed. The only problematic surfaces have been a shiny metal file cabinet top and a holographic mouse pad, but this is to be expected. For the price I can't complain.
As far as compatibility is concerned, I have had no problems with my Mac running OS X (10.3) or my PC running Windows XP Professional. No driver installation was required for either system.
I'd highly recommend this as carry-along mouse for most portable computer users.

Dynex DX-WLMSE Wireless Optical Mouse Review

Dynex DX-WLMSE Wireless Optical Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As far as the operational aspect of the mouse, it's great. Battery life is very good. I never turn it off and I might change out the batteries once every two or three months. It's very accurate. I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about saying that this mouse doesn't work completely with FireFox. That's false. I am on FireFox right now and the scroll works fine, the left side button pages back, and the right side button pages forward. Never had a problem with it not working.
I would have given this wireless, optical mouse 5 stars except after owning it for a year, the comfort pads on either side of the mouse have some sticky glue trickling out. It's coming through the seams where the pad meets the plastic and gets on my fingers. It's extremely annoying and even though I wipe it away, more comes out after a short while. Maybe the glue is just getting old and unsolidifying. Who knows?
Anyway, other than the glue thing this is definitely a solid mouse that competes with the more expensive brand-named ones.

Dell RP962 / PY777 Optical 5-Button USB Mouse w/ Scroll Wheel (MOA8BO) Review

Dell RP962 / PY777 Optical 5-Button USB Mouse w/ Scroll Wheel (MOA8BO)
Average Reviews:

Finally, a mouse that does what I want. This mouse has the usual right and left click buttons with a mouse wheel. This wheel not only rolls, it tilts right and left to act like two more buttons and can be pressed down to act like a third button. Then there are the two additional side buttons (e.g. forward and backward). It is called a five button mouse, but it is more like a seven button mouse. I have been unable to find another mouse that does all that this one does, and is reliable and easy to use. The only down side is it is an optical mouse, not a laser mouse, so it is not as precise in its movements as a laser mouse. But with a bit of care and patience, I can still make my one pixel tweaks on artwork.
Caution: this mouse will not perform well unless you get the Dell Mouse Suite software to drive it. The Mouse Suite software lets you configure the buttons to do what you want. I own three of these mice and use them on XP, Vista and Vista 64 bit operating systems without any problems. I found the (free) R140482.EXE Mouse Suite driver download at the Dell web site at:

Logitech 3-Button USB Optical Wheel Mouse - Black Review

You no longer get the SBF-96 that is advertised (which would also be a ps/2 mouse, NOT usb). I have the SBF-96 & wanted more. The SBF-96 is an excellent mouse. The mouse they send you is the UAE-96, which is a cheaper lower quality USB mouse. The UAE-96 sells for as little as five dollars. Also, it will NOT work with USB to PS/2 adapters. We already HAD a UAE-96, & it is nothing but problems with freezing for example. This WOULD be a great deal if it was actually the higher quality SBF-96. We sent the first UAE-96 back, & got the SAME for replacements after telling them the return was because of the MODEL they send us. We returned the second set also as they are NOT worth the money being charged (UAE-96) bad.

Creative Labs Optical Mouse 5000 Review

Creative Labs Optical Mouse 5000
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yeah.. See that black thumb grippy bit there on the left edge of this little wonder? Well, that thing is glued on not with any kind of commercial bonding adhehsive, but with something.. else.
How do I know? Because that grippy black bit is rubber and squishy and behind it, turns out, is a layer of a thick, wet tar that barely adheres to the mouse. It took me months to realize that the gummy black resinous gunk on my thumb was actually seeping out from the base of this black rubber pad and it's just an oily tar. It's kind of revolting.
I've had it way too long to send back, and I'd be too embarrassed to sell it on ebay so I'm just gonna' Purell my hands again and come whine about it here.
Thanks

Logitech Mouse M110 (Black) Review

Logitech Mouse M110 (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Not a bad replacement mouse at all, soundly made and easy install, additional control software available on the web to change button assignments.
This is a THREE-button mouse with a fairly smooth tilt-wheel capability, good for spreadsheet people who like to jump sideways a whole screen at a time. Trouble is, some - but not all - merchants have decided that you can call that a 5-button mouse. It isn't. If you're in browsers a lot and depend on having buttons 4 and 5 for "Back" and "Forward" functions, they're not there.
I gave it to my mother-in-law and got another make. It worked out.

HP USB 3 Button Optical Mouse in Retail Packaging Review

HP USB 3 Button Optical Mouse in Retail Packaging
Average Reviews:

I bought this looking for a cheap mouse to use with my new Dell 1737 with Windows 7. It works just fine. It's very light and there's no mistaking that it's a cheap mouse, but I've had no problems using it. The buttons are responsive, the scroll wheel feels just right, and it tracks very well, both on a mousepad and the wood grain of the table it rests on. It doesn't conform to your hand like a high-end mouse and it doesn't have additional button functions or sidescrolling, but for $10, all I wanted was a mouse that works. This one does, and it's symmetrical design makes it equally useful for left-handed users.

Dell Black Deluxe USB Optical Scroll Mouse XN966 Review

Dell Black Deluxe USB Optical Scroll Mouse XN966
Average Reviews:

I had one of these when I got my computer about 3 years ago. I started having problems with it (broke down and opened it to figure out how to fix it and it fell apart, so don't do that lol!). I couldn't figure if it was on the computer side or the mouse side. Decided to get another one. When I got this one, the buttons felt really tight, harder to click than my original one. So I guess I really was due for a new one. I had been using my old fat mouse as a replacement till I got this new one. It hurt my hand to grip it. So I would say that this slim mouse is a lot easier to handle and use. I recommend it!

Logitech Corded Mouse (M500) Review

Logitech Corded Mouse (M500)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If a corded mouse is what you want, this is probably the best you'll get.
Like many Logitech mice, the M500 is ergnomically shaped for comfort and reduced strain/tension. Logitech mice are the most comfortable I have used. You can mouse around for hours with much less strain than when using mice from other manufacturers.
Like Logitech's more recent models, the M500 has a scroll wheel that you can switch between regular scrolling and "hyper scrolling," where you give the wheel a little flick and it scrolls very quickly through huge amounts of data. Once you try this feature, you won't go back to a mouse that doesn't have it.
You can also push the scroll wheel to the left or right for horizontal scrolling.
The M500 also has forward and back buttons within easy reach of the thumb, useful for quickly jumping through website or powerpoint slides.
It is a laser mouse, which is much more precise than the older optical mice. It tracks well on most surfaces I've tried, though of course not on glass (Logitech makes more expensive mice that track well on glass).
There are only two things I'd caution you about before purchasing. First, this mouse is really designed to be used by the right hand only. It's possible to use it with the left hand, but it's not as comfortable, and using the forward/back buttons isn't nearly as practical or easy with the left hand as with the right.
Second, this is a corded mouse. You might prefer cordless. For me, corded mice have advantages: no battery to wear out, no charging cradles, no usb receiver to lose, and I've found that corded mice track better than many cordless mice (though the very newest cordless mice, like Logitech's "Anywhere MX" and "Performance MX" track very, very well).
In summary, if you want a right-handed corded mouse, please give this a try. I've tried many, and this is the only one I'd rate as excellent. It's very very comfortable, it tracks very well, and the hyper-scrolling and other features are very well-thought out and implemented. And it's much cheaper than cordless mice offering the same feature set.

The Logitech Corded Mouse M500 with hyper-fast scrolling for increased productivity. A nearly frictionless scroll wheel lets you fly through long documents and Web pages with a single flick. Or switch to click-to-click mode for precise, line-by-line navigation of lists, slides, images, and menus. 1000 dpi laser precision outperforms optical mice. Experience smoother cursor control on virtually any surface.* Soft side grips and a contoured design give you more support and control. Backward/Forward buttons let you move through Web pages and navigate your photo albums with ease. Plug-and-play USB works right out of the box—just plug it in.
