Hi-Speed 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub +Power AC Adapter for PC Review

This item works exactly as described.
I wouldn't purchase this item again for the same reason I purchased it; The brights are extremely bright. It lights up a room. The whole unit is lit with a bright blue light in the middle that flashes. It would be nice if this center light could be dimmed or switched off.
The port lights are steady and I have no issue with them, only the center light.
Perhaps I may need to attach this item to the bottom of the desk.

iTech - i.OVAL 303 (Bluetooth Headset) Review

iTech - i.OVAL 303 (Bluetooth Headset)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was very intrigued about this item doing as much different things as remote for movies, pad for games and keyboard for chat. I must say it took some time getting used to it - have to press the keys firmly but not too much or you'll repeat them, some keys on the top row sometimes don't work, when you launch a game, you have to first remove the sensor or your Sixaxis won't be detected - so if you don't have the courage of a few hors trying you could throw it away.
But as I liked the idea very much I persevered and now I love it! I see the mixed reviews so as it's an unknown Chinese company they may have had production problems (I must say the "y" and "o", bith in the top row, often have to be pressed 2 times to work) but some lucky people will have no problem.
As a DVD/Blu-ray remote :
It's really the strong point of it, all the needed keys are thre : play, pause fast forward, stop ... you can use triangle as on the Sixaxis to have the advanced menu to have the colored buttons for Blu-ray and other options. All the "remote" keys on top work flawlessly and easy to use.
As a keyboard :
I already told the problems I had the one I got, but I think other people could have problems with other keys or not at all. The keys are small but it has the size of a small TV remote so of course they're small! When you have spent about an hour using it, you'll know the good amount of strength to press the keys for good results. I can now send messages to PSN friends or in Home with ease (except as said earlier the "y" and to a lesser degree "o" keys.
As a controller :
I didn' play much games with it (Echochrome and pool in Home), but of course you won't use it to play Resistance or Devil may cry. For the Home mini games it's quite good, the right and left sticks seem a little too sensitive but as I said after a few minutes you'll do it right.
I really think the best "game" it will be used for is "Home", as it allows you to switch from game pad to keyboard with ease and have all the needed keys well mapped.
the good things :
- as the name implies, can be used as a Blu-ray remote, a game controller and a keyboard
- it looks classy shiny black like the PS3
- it's not too big
- after a few minutes of adjustment, you'll use it all the time
the bad things :
- some keys may work badly
- you have to spend some time adjusting the right strength to push the keyboard keys
- the slide to access the keyboard is not really comfortable
- when you want to play a PS3 game, you have to unplug the sensor first and then push the Playstation button of the Sixaxis
Closing comments :
For Home and viewing Blu-rays, it's really perfect. As a keyboard it can be awkward but you get used to it fast. I really enjoy it and use it everyday.

Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 & 2) Review

Logitech NetPlay Controller (Sony Playstation 1 and 2)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I only half heartingly reccomend this item.. solely because there isnt anything comparable out there other than a seperate keyboard .. which usually runs 19.99.. If you can find this item on sale.. i would say if you must.. get it.. its faults..
(all on ffxi as what i have played it on)
the dpad isnt very accurate.. when scrolling numbers in AH it sometimes goes left when i want to go up..
the keyboard is super sensitive.. making me tyyyyyyyyyyyyype like thissssssssssssss.
As i played it.. a few months later... the left stick began to fault.. now it veers to the left almost always.. and will move forward when i am not pushing anything. it, too, doesnt control accuratly
the vibration function will cause it to switch the analog mode off so the sticks dont work.. very annoying.
luckily.. ffxi doesnt require much in the line of exact control... so I am fine with it.. until it eventually completely quits..
the unit would be useless to control a platforming type game that requires more exact control.
To be fair, customer service did offer to fix it.. but who wants to be w/o a controller while already addicted to ffxi?

Hi-Speed 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub +Power AC Adapter for PC Review

Hi-Speed 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub +Power AC Adapter for PC

Hi-Speed 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub +Power AC Adapter for PC - I only put one star because i couldn't choose ZERO! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT! I bought one for my daughter at college. When she plugged it into her computer, it shorted out ALL the USBs and the mother board had to be replaced! The company (HDE) said that in order for them to "make it right," they needed 100% proof that it was this device that caused the problem. Thank goodness it was still under warranty. The computer company determined the problem, which they said was plugging this device into the USB port, and they sent us a new mother board. Seems like common sense to me... everything is ok, plug the device in, nothing works! hmm. wonder what the problem could be? Then after asking them for a refund, it was not sent. I called HDE 2 months later to find out what happened to my refund. They said all my information was lost. I finally got the refund. I would not buy this product or deal with this company again if THEY paid ME!

Loop Pointer In-Air Mouse for PCs & Macs connected to TVs & Projectors Review

Loop Pointer In-Air Mouse for PCs and Macs connected to TVs and Projectors
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a media center PC hooked to my TV and have been struggling for months on how to deal with non-HTPC websites like Hulu. When I first heard about the Loop Pointer I thought the idea was potentially interesting but wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money on another "wireless mouse."
This is NOT another "wireless mouse."
First, the big stuff.
As a free-space pointer with no line-of-sight requirements, the Loop performs remarkably. I was absolutely astonished at the subtlety with which it tracked my wrist and hand movements. Whereas before I would have to use some sort of wireless mouse on a hard pad on my lap, now I can leave the Loop comfortably by my side as I sit on the couch and make little movements to control the PC.
Hillcrest also got the little things right, too...
Firstly, it comes in a package that doesn't require a chainsaw to open. I can't begin to express how tired I am of packages that require a serrated knife from my kitchen to open!
I installed the Loop on 3 PC's in my house and each went perfectly. Just plug in the usb dongle and it gets recognized as a mouse instantly. No drivers needed is a big deal for me, personally.
Finally, there's an off button on the controller. This may seem trivial, but it really helps the battery life and performance. The fact that I can click it off when I want means I don't have to wait for some arbitrary time-out before it powers down. Also, the fact that I can easily turn it off and on means that my kids - or cat - won't be accidentally changing channels or re-formatting my hard drive when I get up to go to the bathroom!
In conclusion:
Will this product unalterably change my life?
No, but it sure as heck will change my life on the couch - and that's a pretty good start. It's worth every cent and I happily recommend it.

Rocketfish Wireless Multimedia Bluetooth Keyboard and Laser Mouse Review

Rocketfish Wireless Multimedia Bluetooth Keyboard and Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bluetooth (wireless) keyboard / mouse combo is sold retail by Best Buy. You can get refurbished ones on eBay and through Amazon merchants. I purchased a refurbished one, and was happily surprised to find it in brand-new condition and in the original packaging.
The package includes a bluetooth keyboard which uses two "AA" batteries, a mouse which uses two "AA" batteries, a bluetooth USB dongle, a manual, a CD containing the driver software for Windows, and four "AA" batteries.
The keyboard is full-sized (actually a smidge larger than my desktop computer's keyboard), has a very solid feel, and is a bit heavier than I expected. It has the usual keyboard setup with a separate numerical pad, arrow keys grouped by themselves, Help/Del/Home/End/PgUp/PgDn in a group, 15 function keys across the top, and the Esc key in the upper left corner. It has a "Windows" key to the left of the spacebar. It also has 10 programmable keys running along the left and right sides of the keyboard, plus a full-width wrist rest. On the underside (which is bright red), it has the usual two legs along the top edge and a "connect" button (used to initiate syncing with the bluetooth-USB dongle or directly with the computer if it supports bluetooth). There is no visual indication if the caps lock or num lock keys are on. There is a single LED in the upper-right corner of the keyboard that flashes red when the batteries are low, or red/green when it is attempting to do a bluetooth pairing.
The mouse is a little bigger and heavier than a typical desktop mouse. On the top, it has the usual left, right and middle/scrollwheel buttons. The scrollwheel can be tilted left/right, plus there are additional buttons on the mouse's crown with "play" , "next", "prev", and "stop" icons on them. There is a bluetooth "connect" button recessed on the bottom of the mouse.
The USB-bluetooth dongle is provided to allow computers without built-in bluetooth capability to connect (pair) with the keyboard and mouse. It has a small "connect" button on the end, and a blue LED that flashes to indicate activity and flashes rapidly to indicate the dongle searching for the keyboard and mouse.
I was able to pair both the keyboard and mouse with a Mac Mini both with and without the dongle. In addition, I was able to pair both the keyboard and mouse with a PS3 both with and without the dongle. In all cases, the pairing was easy, and I did not need to install any driver software on the Mac or PS3. To pair with the dongle, simply plug the dongle into the computer's USB port, turn on the computer so the dongle is getting power, press the "connect" buttons on the dongle, mouse, and keyboard, and wait a few seconds. The LEDs on the keyboard and mouse will flash red/green, and the LED on the dongle will flash rapidly, then all three will stop flashing. After this, the keyboard and mouse should "just work". To pair with a computer (or PS3) directly without the dongle is more involved, and generally involves telling the computer to search for bluetooth devices, then pair with the keyboard (this will probably involve typing a code on the keyboard that the computer provides) and the mouse (which should happen without any additional actions by you).
The range of the keyboard and mouse appear to be at least 10 feet (the distance from my PS3 to where I sit). They both work well and without any glitches or surprises so far. I haven't owned them long enough to comment on battery life.
Overall, this package is an excellent deal for the price I paid.
