The intel customer support says that there are major problmes with the mouse, keyboard and gamepad (they only list the minor problems on there compatibility faq)), they dont bother to tell you that they do not work at all on many peoples xp professional
However if you have 98,me,xp home, or 2000 professional(wow 2000 pro and not xp pro) then buy this product, it is an awesome gamepad and can function as a mouse that doesnt even need a surface to use.

(More customer reviews)It took a while to try to decide what switch to use. I've got a USB mouse and PC2 keyboard and a 2001 Dell Precision workstation. For some reason I can't find a single manufacturer who will post reasonably complete information on what their switch will actually do. There is very little description of what kind of input and output is available.
It took quite a while to set up the switch. That's not the fault of CablesToGo, it was an old BIOS in the Dell. Once flashed to A07, and giving everything a chance to think about it after connecting, it runs fine.
The workstation and laptop both have analog & digital video capability. The switch can only handle analog from what I can tell. It does it fine - I can see no degradation. When switching the indicator lights show you where you are - no beeps or other annoying noises. Set up is quick and clear in the printed material. Switching can be done from the front panel, hot keys, or an on-screen switch.
While the manufacturer will not claim support, the switch is working just fine with a Microsoft wireless mouse, including the extra side keys and wheel. (I'm older than most of the PC generation and really like the mouse magnifying glass - Really glad it works!)
The only minor thing I see compared to some other switches advertised is that I must boot sequentially. The switch must be connected to the booting PC.
This switch will allow me to share additional USB devices - very handy for what I am doing. It has audio switching capabilities, which I have not tried yet.
The switch does what I want and gives me the capability to add anticipated units in the near future. At the Amazon price, I believe I got my monies worth.
I did work with the CabelsToGo tech support when first trying to find out why I could not get it started. First, I got real people, next they actually spoke English as a first language, and then to top it off, were not working from scripts - actually knew how to answer questions. They did not have the answer, but working with them gave me enough ideas to track down the problem in the Dell and correct it. All that while calling at the last 30 minutes of their support work day (and spending less than a minute on hold, even going to different techs. I'm impressed).

(More customer reviews)For anyone out there that is thinking of picking this up. It does work on Windows 7. The installation is a little tricky but it does work.
To install you must do the following:
1. Open cd in explorer window.
2. Go to Software folder
3. Right click on InstallGB.exe and select properties
4. Go to compatability tab
5. Select run in Windows XP (SP3) and run as admin press ok
6. Go to Intervideo folder
7. Do the same for setup.exe
8. Go back and run InstallGB.exe
9. Plug in device when asked and follow install prompts.
Should work just fine now. I had no problems with my install. Worked on the first try. I never was able to get this thing to work properly on XP or Vista due to lack of PC power. Runs beautifully on my Win 7 system. Quality of video capture is nothing to write home about but it does the trick.

Belkin 2-Port KVM Switch with Bundled Cables (F1DJ102P-B) Review

(More customer reviews)The two complaints most often leveled against KVMs are: (1) video degradation, and (2) hardware incompatibility. I have not encountered either in using the Belkin F1DJ102PB for the past month.
I am running 2 Dells, one with W98 and the other XP-Home, through the Belkin to an Optiquest/Viewsonic Q95 monitor at 1152x864 and 85hz. The keyboard is a vanilla Dell keyboard and the mouse is a Microsoft Wheelmouse Optical. There have been zero problems.
I work with Excel spreadsheets all day long, staring at endless rows and columns of small font numbers. This makes me VERY fussy about video issues like ghosting, fuzziness and blurring. I can detect absolutely NO difference in video quality when using the KVM as opposed to running straight from PC to monitor.
The switch's maximum video bandwidth is 200Mhz. If you are using very high screen resolutions with high refresh rates (say something higher than 1600x1200x100hz=192Mhz), this could become an issue.
The mouse worked immediately on the Dell on which is was originally installed and, once I installed its drivers on the other machine (a step that I think many forget - and then complain about hardware problems), it worked fine there as well.
The unit itself is small and has cable connectors on all 4 sides. Once everything is connected, this arrangement can be somewhat ungainly - a big electronic spider. I have placed mine on the floor underneath my desk. This means I must use the keyboard shortcut to change between machines rather than the button on the switch itself, but I think I would do that anyway - its so easy. Hit the ScrollLock key twice and then either the up or down arrow key (BUT - only the arrow keys in the cursor keypad - not the ones under the '8' and the '2').
Every time you change from one machine to the other, the KVM emits a little chirp. I would like to strangle that little chirp, but this is my only complaint about the unit. It is an inexpensive (especially when you consider that Belkin has included the cables) but entirely satisfactory piece of equipment. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, we got 24" monitors which required 1920x1080 resolution. The Raritan couldn't handle that high a resolution and dropped it to 1400x1050. I searched for reasonably-priced KVM solutions which a was a big hassle. Lots of things to support in the coming years and many users' reviews to read about their satisfaction.
Criteria:
Front panel access to select computer. One push should select the computer
4 ports that support ps/2 and usb
Vga video port as opposed to DVI
2048 x 1536 supported resolution
Include 4 sets of cables in price
I narrowed the choices to: Belkin f1ds104j, Triplite b0006-vu4-r, and Iogear gcs1734 and selected the Belkin.
I waited to see if the KVM would work as advertised and it did. Make sure you follow the short instructions and the video worked great. The only minor flaw is the keyboard repeat rate seems slightly slower.

StarTech 4-Port Professional VGA USB KVM Switch with Hub (SV431USB) Review

(More customer reviews)This KVM is advertised to work without a power supply under Mac and PC (as specified on the startech.com website) but doesn't. It has a 5v recepticle but doesn't even include a cheapo wall wart. The 5v voltage is not even common enough for Radio Shack to carry them so they are expecting a lot from the end user.
The specific problem is I get a warning from my Macs about too much power being drawn and then the keyboad and/or mouse gets disabled.
I have 2 differnt setups where it fails to work. One consists of a PowerMac G4 and a PowerBook G4 with a ViewSonic 20" monitor, Apple Pro keyboard, and Microsoft Optical Mouse.
The other setup consists of a PowerBook G4, Old Micron Linux box, Sony 17" LCD, Apple Pro keyboard, and a Logitech Optical mouse.
These seem like common configurations so I am wondering if it is defective or unrealistic about its power requirements. I have written startech.com about this issue. I will update this review once I get a response.

UPDATE

Startech sent me the power adapter needed when connecting to Macs. BTW, its not included. Seems to work as advertised but I have noticed that if I don't switch to a Mac for an extended period it wont wakeup.

(More customer reviews)I have used many KVMs in server rooms. These industrial-strength boxes are big and expensive because they're designed to allow you to control large number of servers.
Another feature of server-oriented KVMs is that they give an audible "chirp" when you switch to a new machine. That's helpful in noisy server rooms when you are switching between servers that have desktops that look mostly alike.
But when I wanted a KVM to switch between 2 PCs at home, I wanted something small, inexpensive, and quiet (I most definitely don't want a loud "chirp!" waking up my kids at night).
This Linksys is just about perfect. Because it has cables molded in, it is very compact. It switches silently (no chirp), and the video signal is clear and free of jitter or noise even at high res (1280x1024) with high refresh rates.
Another customer said that he had some compatibility problems, but I haven't had any. I use a Microsoft optical USB mouse with a PS2 converter (it's a little adapter plug that came with the mouse) and I have used the KVM with a normal Dell keyboard, and with my current ultra-ergonomic Kinesis Classic keyboard.
I would have given this unit 5 stars, except that I think the cables would benefit from being just a bit longer. As it is, the unit works well, has excellent compatibility, and is an incredible value.

(More customer reviews)It's no secret that this gamepad does NOT really look anything like the controllers used for the old consoles, (NES, SNES, etc.)
That said - this is a GREAT, affordable game controller for the classics. This controller feels quite solid even though it is SUPER-light weight. The buttons (including the D-pad) are very responsive. The D-pad is the directional control pad on the controller by the way.
The only slight flaw to this controller can be EASILY overcome with some thought. See, this controller has NO designated start and select buttons. I simply assigned two of the trigger keys on the top of the controller to act as the start and select keys inside my emulator's settings. Works perfect for me!
In conclusion - this is NOT AT ALL for serious (modern) gamers. It does NOT have force feedback, dual shock, or any of those (worthless to me) features. But if you are looking for a comfortable, easy-to-use controller for your classic games and emulators, but don't want to pay big money for the modified authentic controllers out there - BUY AT LEAST A COUPLE OF THESE great little works of affordable tech.
By the way - I OWN legal copies of ALL of the games that I play using emulators. I just can't get the consoles to work any more after YEARS of extensive game play.

(More customer reviews)like the title says, this mouse is a great value, sitting between the intellimouse explorer and intellimouse wheel. it fits my hand perfectly too, as it is not as big at the explorer.
fuctionwise, the tracking is unparalleled--the new intellieye scanning at 6,000 times per second makes the mouse virtually skip-free, unlike older optical mice. the 5 fully programmable buttons are awesome too. the inteiipoint software allows you to assign different functions to different buttons, in different programs! i even have a button that saves my document in microsoft word! it's really a brilliant invention.
my only gripe about this mouse is its weight. it is on the light side, and i hear the hollow cluck every time i pick it up when i'm playing a game. i've grown used to it by now, but it took a couple of weeks.
in short, i believe this is the perfect mouse for me. its optical eye works great, the buttons are ingenious, and the low price at amazon.com (...) make this mouse the best bang for your buck!

Belkin F1DG102U Flip 2-Port KVM Switch with Audio Support (USB Connection) Review

(More customer reviews)Just what I was looking for - an easy way to run a desktop server and docked laptop with one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse.
A few things you should know before plunking down for this -
1) Make sure you are using a keyboard and mouse that are either BOTH usb, or BOTH ps2. If you mix and match, you'll need an adapter for one of them, or have to replace the one that doesnt connect. They sell this product with usb or ps2, so you can pick. My keyboard was not usb, but I bought the usb version, since my next one probably will be.
2) Switching back and forth isnt instantaneous. It take about 5 seconds for it to adjust before you can use your mouse, which is also accompanied by some "recognized hardware" noises, but mercifully, no popup announcements.
3) Another issue, is your screen resolution. Supposedly this supports up to 2048 x 1536 at 65Hz. However, after hooking it up, my resolution has been degraded. The settings are the same (1280x1024) at highest 32 bit color and 65Hz refresh, but the screen is noticeably more blurry, which is a bit irritating. Perhaps I will figure this out, but so far, no luck.
Aside from these issues, nice product. No software required, so you just plug it in and go. Some people have mentioned that this doesnt work with a scroll button on a mouse, but my MS mouse two-button with scroll works the same as ever.
Will repost if I resolve any of the above issues...

(More customer reviews)Great transaction, quick shipping. I'm not sure why all the reviews that I read said that this game pad did "not" work for them. This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game pad works outstandingly and not just on my COD:MW2 but on all of the first person shooter games that I own and even on my racing games, I am still working through my games to see how many it works with but I haven't found one game that is doesn't work with yet. The profile editing software also works great. The game pad makes playing games so much better than using the keyboard and mouse at the same time, with 20 different programmable buttons {You do need to change the POV pad from a 4 way to a 8 way in the profile editor but that is really easy to do} plus the two joysticks this game pad has everything you need all in one really nice feeling controller. Considering that other people are having issues with this item I would add that you need to install the drivers and SST {Profile editor} software according to how the instructions on the disk that accompanies the game pad tells you to, put the disk in and follow the instructions before you plug in the game pad, it's really in the middle of the installation process when it instructs you to plug in the "controller that you want to update". Other than that it should work as well for you as it does for me so, Buy with confidence. Thanks Amazon.

When switching to the imac mini there is about a 0.5 second delay and when switching to windows there is a 2 second delay, can't complain. Also all 5 buttons and the scrollwheel work on the Starview. I would recommend anyone if you don't mind pressing a button on the unit to switch.
I originally had a IOGEAR GCS632U and had nothing but problems. Couldn't get it to work with my Windows XP. See the GCS632U page for my review on it.
I wish I would have bought the Starview to begin with. 5/5!

The set up was easy. My only glitch was having to buy an inexpensive USB keyboard. There is no PS/2 port on this model. The model also worked with a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, but I wanted to use that set with my main work computer. (More customer reviews)I initially dismissed this product because it looked cheap, and seemed to be priced accordingly. But after reading some of the reviews, I decided to buy it and risk a whopping 24 bucks. It was a great buy.
What it does - It switches your VGA monitor between two computers, along with your USB keyboard and USB mouse. It has two buttons on the device to control the switching. It has two USB ports that go to your keyboard and your mouse. It has three VGA ports. One goes to your monitor (you use the cable you already have). Two go to your two computers. Interestingly, the KVM-to-computer cable, a special cable that is included (two of them), also carries the USB signal. The cable splits at the computer end and you connect the VGA connector and the USB connector to their respective ports on your computers.
What it does not - It does not switch audio. It is not designed to switch additional USB devices, although it may work for some devices that do not need high bus-power, if your keyboard acts as a unpowered hub. The device itself is powered by the computer's USB bus and it does not have a separate power supply.
This is exactly what I needed. KVM stands for keyboard, video, and mouse. That's all I wanted to switch between two computers (a Mac and a Linux PC laptop). I considered other KVM devices, and they had more features such as audio switching and special software, but they cost much more than this simple device. The package comes with software for switching, but it is for Windows only. The docs say it has a hot key, the scroll lock key hit twice in succession, that controls the switch. However, it did not work for me, probably because of my Mac keyboard which does not have a dedicated scroll lock key. However, the device is sitting next to my keyboard, and I just hit the appropriate button (1 or 2) to switch. It is quite small. The switching is nearly instant. What could be more simple than that?
A few things I have tried... It works fine at 1600x1200, 75 Hz. My normally used Mac resolution is 1280x960 at 75 Hz. My Linux laptop is old and can only externally output 1024x764 at 60 Hz, which also works fine. I do not see any degrading of picture quality going through this KVM. My monitor is 19-inch CRT.
In summary, the Trendnet TK207K 2-Port USB KVM Switch works great at a great price. If a simple two-way KVM for VGA/USB is what you need, I recommend this one.

TRENDnet USB to PS/2 Converter TU-PS2 (Blue) Review

I ended up with the Kingwin UPS2C(I could not locate it on Amazon, had to go elsewhere) and it worked fine. That was is only $4.99 and works perfectly even with a KVM.
