(More customer reviews)I am wondering how long it takes to get in the mindset of looking to see if devices are compatible with Vista BEFORE I buy them and try to install them??
Yes, I just recently got a Vista computer and am not used to it. Most of the programs play nice with Vista, but this one didn't... I tried installing it and ran into errors...it wasn't compatible. The installation finished anyway and I thought maybe it actually did work. I tried to connect to my bluetooth device (cell phone) and it did connect, but then it tried to install the drivers again (it must have bypassed them the first time) and it was pointless. I checked the website and, nope, no Vista drivers.
So now I have a useless $30 dongle and have to try and find one that will work with Vista.

It is the full retail version not some non-OEM knock-off that does not include any software or drivers (and trust me you need the drivers & software to get all the features working) like many other sellers are pushing for a few bucks. This is the real deal and includes a copy of Bluesoleil BT management software which is dialed in for this adapter.
This adapter works great with my Motorola S805 BT Stereo Headset. It works fine with Skype as well as streaming audio to the headset. One caveat is that you need to remember if your BT device is not a Class 1 device then your range will be less for VOIP or other audio input needs. I can LISTEN to audio for almost the full 100m with no walls in between. But transmitting back to the system stops after about 20'-30' indoors. I can live fine with that range. But just remember the limiting factor is always going to be the device with the shortest transmission range.
My only concern is losing the darned thing!! It is teeeeeny which is GREAT it stays out of the way on my laptop.
Amazingly quick to ship...had it almost "before the check cleared"...;) Works like a charm with my Motorola S805 BT Stereo Headset.

You will receive a non-OEM knock off, made by some company called GT Max, without any software needed to use all the functions of the device. The software from Bluesoleil will set you back another $30-$40...better to buy the Zoom Telephonics 4314 USB BT adapter here on Amazon for just $22. It works right out of the box, this device might be found by your operating system, I use XP Pro SP3, but that is as far as it goes, to get the added VoIP and other functions, like BT Stereo Audio, you need to BUY the software and even then it may or may not work.
I suggest avoiding this seller at all costs. If this were the Avantalk BTDG-20 as advertised it would have included the software.

(More customer reviews)I looked at a zillion of these Bluetooth adapters, wanting to add BT to my wife's PC to sync her BlackBerry, and I saw this one consistently reviewed among the best on every site that sold it.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, the installation could not have been easier, I simply enabled the BT services in Win7, then plugged it into a USB port, and Win7 did the rest. The whole deal took less than 1 minute.
What attracted me to this adapter was it seemed to work farther away than most of the other adapters, according to others who had purchased several different ones.
The cool part is now my wife can sync her BlackBerry with her Outlook calendar - when her computer is upstairs in her office, and her BlackBerry is downstairs in the kitchen in her purse !!
Highly recommend this adapter, I'll be getting more for my other computers.

(More customer reviews)The packaging doesn't mention Mac OS at all, and the handful of inexpensive Bluetooth adapters that I looked at here on Amazon didn't either, so I took a chance. This one does indeed work with OS X Tiger. On our old dual G4 tower running 10.4.11, it was as simple as plugging this device into an available USB port and firing up the Bluetooth system preference pane. No drivers necessary as support was fully native. I was able to pair my phone with the computer and browse files instantly. I haven't tested it in Leopard because our newer Macs which run Leopard all have Bluetooth built-in, but I would expect no problems. If your Mac doesn't already have Bluetooth, this is a great deal.

(More customer reviews)If you own a bluetooth enabled phone, this is a MUST-HAVE accessory! I've owned this for two weeks and here's my experience w/it so far.
Installation was a snap! I am using Windows XP SP1. I downloaded the latest drivers from Linksys website and during the install process, it prompted me to plug in the dongle, then it finished and was up and working! That easy! I've read about others having driver problems w/other lesser name brands (Belkin, etc) but Linksys truly does live up to its name. I've also installed drivers on my laptop so I now have a Bluetooth enabled laptop also! It's easy switching the dongle from desktop to laptop because of the USB connector. Pairing w/my Sony Ericsson T610, I now have wireless internet access on my laptop anywhere I can get a signal on my cell phone!
Syncing w/Outlook is much faster than through IRDA and sending pictures/ringtones/games to and from the phone is a lot more convenient too because it doesn't require line of sight the way IRDA does.
The specs claim 100m but you've gotta remember that's unobstructed. I live in a 2800sq ft home w/two floors and this unit still picked up a weak to fair signal from one end of my house to the other. I would get strong signals from about 3/4's of the distance or closer.
You can probably save $10-15 going w/a generic or lesser name brand but full driver support from generics may be a hit-and-miss game. To me, paying a bit extra for fully compliant driver support and no installation headaches is certainly worth it! Plus, it looks cool and has that antenna for better range.

It will NOT run with any built in bluetooth software (i.e. Windows Bluetooth functionality) Instead it utilizes a BlueSolei software package that does not offer the same functionality as a name brand bluetooth card (which supports the in house software). This is a textbook case of cheap, quick manufactured technology pawned off on unsuspecting customers that believe they are getting a bargain. (More customer reviews)This unit does everything I want but has caused a few side effects that are annoying. For example, I setup the bluetooth modem to see if I could get out through my BT cell phone.
Now I get annoying pop-ups asking me if I want to dial-out that connection. Yes, I've gone through the internet options and set never-dial-a-connection. There are other little annoying side effects like a pop-up whenever my PC comes out of standby if the BT isn't plugged-in. I expect these issues may be true of most BT adapters so don't condem this unit. It's here FYI if you are new to Blue Tooth.
All that said, I was pleased with the ease of setup, management and operation. The range I get with my BT devices (phone, palm T5, and plantronics discovery 645 is better than I had expected - maybe 15 or 20 feet before cut-out, 5 to 10 feet before degradation.

The size of the dongle is great for my laptop since I don't need to remove it when I stick the laptop in the case. There is a driver disk that came in the package but with Win 7 ultra 64-bit it had me download and install drivers which is just fine since it works well with any bluetooth device I have used with it (keyboard, mouse, headset, cell phone!). I liked the first one enough that I just ordered a second one for my desktop which also used Win 7 ultra 64 bit.

(More customer reviews)I bought this adapter after looking at the fantastic reviews. The adapter does not work effectively with Windows XP. After following the half-baked instructions in the manual, I downloaded the so called drivers for USB50BT for windows XP. Turns out the drivers was actually a software called 'Bluesoleil'. Automatically the software registered itself as an evaluation copy which means it switches off itself after 5-10 minutes till you restart the software again to listen to the music or buy the full version of the software. The adapter does seem to work fine with the software and I could listen to the music on my Motorola S9-HD from my PC without any interruption but then when I checked how much the software costs to buy, it shows around 20 EUR which is crap. I think the merchant should notify the customers about the purchase of the software if they buy this doongle.

The version shipped with it is 1.47... The newest is 6.54 something. Attempting to upgrade via in-app help menu, led me to a website that does not exist. It was almost spelled right but not quite. Then the website that wants my 20$ has all kinds of typos. This product is real bad. I have one. If you drive by, maybe you can get it as I throw it out the window. If you expect to get anything other than garbage for pennies, you are as big of fool as I was. Do not buy this product.

(More customer reviews)I would have given this item a 5 out of 5, except for the issue with generic windows driver installation with Win XP SP2 overwriting the D-Link driver during the initial setup process. Gives the user all sorts of weird error messages. You'll probably see one red and one blue Bluetooth "B's" in your system tray after the software installation.
The Solution (AFTER FINISHING THE INTIAL SETUP):
-Right-Click "My Computer"
-Select "Properties"
-Click "Hardware" tab
-Click "Device Manager"
-Drop down Bluetooth devices
-Right Click "Generic" one on the list
-Select "Properties"
-Click "Drivers" tab
-Click "Update Drivers"
-Select "Install from specified location"
-Select "Don't Search. I'll select..."
-Select "D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth Adapter"
-Click "Next"
-And your Done!
You'll still need to setup the individual bluetooth devices by running the "My Bluetooth Places" wizard.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these actually from another online vendor and tried to use it with my Plantronics Voyager 510 headset. Now, my headset works flawless with my Moto cell phone, but with this dongle and Skype I got tons of static and pops/crackles even when only 2 feet away from the dongle. I sent it back and opted for a different device for Skype altogether. I contacted support and they never heard of such issues, but I tried software changes and all sorts of placements of the dongle, but no soap, still sounded bad.

KENSINGTON 33348 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)I already had a Kensington Bluetooth 1.2 adapter K33085, and I used it on my Windows XP computer to communicate with my Dell Axim X30 PDA, Nokia 6230 phone, and Motorola HS820 phone headset.
I figured I would upgrade to Bluetooth 2.0 to enable future devices with higher speeds and more capabilities (e.g., stereo headset), so I bought this adapter 33348.
It seems to work fine transferring files with the PDA and the phone, but my main thing was really the headset (for Skype), and I couldn't get it to work.
I installed the software as instructed (tried on 3 separate XP computers), and paired with the headset. It said it was paired, and it noticed when I would connect or disconnect the headset, but when they were paired, there was no sound. I tried manually switching the default audio device to Bluetooth Audio (didn't have to do that on the K33085), but it still didn't work.
I also tried my friend's HS820 and H700 headsets, with the same results.
I contacted Tech Support from both Kensington and Motorola. I never got an answer from Motorola (after 5 days), and the answer from Kensington, while prompt, was not terribly helpful. After I described the problem in detail, and asked for detailed advice, the response basically amounted to "Try installing from scratch again, and if it doesn't work, here's where you can apply for a refund."
So I returned the 33348 adapter to Amazon, and I'm back to using the old K33085 adapter. Hope I manage to find a Bluetooth 2.0 adapter compatible with my headset soon.

(More customer reviews)I bought the BUA-100 to work with my Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset. My company recently deployed Cisco IP Softphones. After doing a little research, I found that by combining the voyager 510 headset with this bluetooth dongle, I could use the call control button on the headset to answer and end calls just like a cell phone.
I read several reviews here from people that had tried to use regular bluetooth dongles to pair with their headsets, but none of them seemed completely happy with the result. I decided not to chance it and bought the BUA-100 even though it is somewhat pricey compared to other bluetooth adapters.
It does not work with Bluetooth devices other than plantronics headsets, so you are not getting a multi use bluetooth adapter in this, more like just a dongle to connect your headset to your pc.
The button on the dongle allows you to easily pair it with your headset. Just put your headset into pairing mode then push the button on the dongle. They will be paired in a second or two.
For range, it behaves as standard bluetooth. When I walk away from my pc, I can get about 15 feel or so before I hear a little static, which gets progressively worse the farther you go.
All in all I am very happy with the combination of this and the voyager 510 headset and would recommend it to others.
