Kensington 64382 PilotBoard Wireless USB Desktop for Mac (Mac) Review

Kensington 64382 PilotBoard Wireless USB Desktop for Mac (Mac)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this in the hope of getting all the multimedia and browser buttons of a Microsoft keyboard but the correct key labels and layout for my Mac. Having switched from a MS keyboard, however, I'm now regretting it. The Kensington pilot board seems to have significant difficulties transmitting wirelessly, as it regularly drops keystrokes and often shows a perceptible lag between key hit and computer response (compared to a wired keyboard). I'm returning mine.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Keyboard, Mouse, and Stereo Speakers Review

I got a wireless keyboard, mouse, and wired speaker set for $15! and its also made by logitech..a great brand (imho). It a refub, and the box was in rough shape, but the item works great. I had to change the batteries and the keyboard and in the mouse, but for $15 it was worth it. The speakers don't sound the best, but there ins't any static/crackly noise, so they're good enough.
Everything in this package works great and worked the first time I installed the product. Would recommend to anyone wanting an inexpensive wireless setup.

Mouse is unusable; not sure whether the issue is the trackball or wireless technology. I need to replace the mouse with the something usable.
Keyboard works OK, but hotkeys do not work on my PC. Customer support does not answer e-mails. The keyboard only use the PS/2 style connector. The problem may be that I am going through a PS/2 keyboard/mouse to USB hub (...USB connection back to the PC).

Targus AKM11US 2.4 GHz Wireless Multimedia Keyboard and Optical Mouse Set
Average Reviews:

i just bought a desktop and wanted to get a wireless keyboard to go along with it. every keyboard i looked at from microsoft or any other company seemed to have the same complaints...range. i briefly toyed with going back to a wired keyboard, then i found this one. i wasn't expecting much for the price, but was pleasantly surprised. the keyboard is very comfortable (kind of has the feel of a laptop when you type). i didn't have any of the problems one of the other reviewers reported with certain buttons not being responsive at all. my main concern as to range was definitely answered and then some. the keyboard and mouse only require 2 AAA batteries each so it's not expensive to keep it powered. the mouse is definitely not the greatest but is good enough for everyday use (outside of gaming...i tried out the combo playing crysis). one little bonus i found was that the keyboard and mouse worked with my mac book pro without any issues or need to install any drivers (i was curious).
overall i found this product very much worth the money. the mouse leaves something to be desired, but the keyboard is solid, and for the money i don't know that you'll find anything better.

iConcepts Wireless Optical Mouse and Keyboard Combo USB (62150N) Review

iConcepts Wireless Optical Mouse and Keyboard Combo USB (62150N)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros
-Price is nearly as as good as it gets.
-it does work, sort of.
-plug and play, even with Linux.
-Some of the Special keys actually work with Linux
Cons
-Cheaply made (Most cheaply made mouse and keyboard I have ever used)
-keys feel "soft"
-backspace key is very small
-The Mouse will not work if further than 1.5' away from receiver.
-Lag sometimes in communication between mouse and keyboard and computer.
-Ink on keys poorly done, and hard to see.
-Sounds terrible in use, like a loose spring rattling around in a ball point pen.
-Description says 4 AA batteries required, you need two AAA and two AA.Overall, you will likely be happier with a used mouse/keyboard for the same price, or better yet, spend a little more cash up front, and get a decent product.

I was very pleased with this purchase. I wanted a keyboard and mouse that connected via PS/2 (old style plugs) instead of USB. The keyboard is well constructed and attractive without all the "bells & whistles" that I would not use anyway. The mouse also performs well and feels very comfortable in your hand. I have had good luck with quite a few Logitech products. If you want an excellent "no frills" keyboard and mouse which utilize the PS/2, plug type connection to free up your USB ports for other peripherals, I would highly recommend this product. It gets "two thumbs up" from me!

ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint Review

ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This keyboard is wonderful - nearly everything that I would want in a keyboard, and nothing more. The quote that comes to mind is "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
BUT -- I can confirm that, as the previous poster noted, this keyboard is broken and unusable for a speedy typist. It has two problems: First, INitial CAps; the shift key does not immediately release in software when you physically release it, so a fast typist ends up with TWo CApitals at the beginning of almost every sentence. Titles are particularly bad; you end up with "THe PResident of the UNited STates." It's particularly infuriating in that it happens so reliably that when you backspace and re-type, you get the exact same problem.
The second issue is that, often, double-clicking a character will give only ONE copy of that character. So "Three little puppies hopped over the puddle" becomes "Thre litle pupies hoped over the pudle." It does this almost every time, if you are a fast typist.
All of this occurs with both the default drivers and the latest (11/5/2009) drivers on the website. I tested using Windows 7.
It's too bad, because this would otherwise be a wonderful keyboard. I've never seen a keyboard before that couldn't keep up with my typing. I guess that if you are not a touch typist, this keyboard would be perfectly fine for you.

Inland Pro Wireless 2.4GHz Optical Mice Keyboard Combo Set

I have been on the lookout for a decent wireless keyboard/mouse combo with reasonable range for a very long time. I tried couple of Microsoft 2.4Ghz before and a Logiech laser wireless keyboard/mouse combo as well. None of them could give me a decent 5 meter range for the keyboard. I was at Micro center and picked this up today. Install was a snap and the keyboard/mouse started working right-a-way from the desired range (my couch to TV) without any noticeable lag. I brought the pro set for about 30 dollars (which has some volume control keys etc on the keyboard) -but I think even the regular 2.4Ghz will work (which is 20 bucks). I will update my review once I see this work consistently for more than 2 weeks - but for now it seems to me that the price/performance can't be beat!.

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v3 (Black) Review

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v3 (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my third wireless keyboard/mouse combo (I have one from Dell and one from Logitech as well). I have highlighted some things that I particularly liked about it along with some of its drawbacks.
[Update: I've downgraded my rating to 3 stars because the keyboard amd mouse started having connectivity problems.]Pros
----
- Decent Wireless Range
The effective wireless range for both the keyboard and mouse is about 15 ft. Beyond that, the response from the keyboard and mouse becomes sporadic. Still, it's a decent range and will suit the needs of most people.- Ergonomic Mouse
I love how the shape of the mouse allows me to "hug" it with my entire hand, and it fits very snugly and comfortably. Its ergonomic shape, coupled with the support I get from my wrist rest, really helps to alleviate strain on my wrist. As far as ergonomics is concerned, I'm surprised that I actually find myself liking it a fair bit more than my Logitech MX Revolution.- Ergonomic Keyboard
The slight curvature of the rows of keys for the QWERTY part of the keyboard helps to accommodate the natural position of your wrist. This is my first Microsoft "Natural" keyboard and I must say it has completely dispelled my skepticism of Microsoft's so-called "Natural" keyboard design. I find that it does work as claimed in helping to properly align your wrist so you can work more comfortably.- Ultra Quiet Keyboard
Wow... I'm very impressed by how quiet the keyboard is no matter how fast I type or how hard I press the keys; there's none of the familiar "clacking" sound that comes from typing on a normal keyboard.- Pleasant Tactile Response From The Keyboard
I also love how the keys on the keyboard have an almost laptop keyboard feel to it. The keys are firm, not jiggly, and they have a very pleasant tactile response.- Accurate Mouse Tracking
The tracking on the mouse is responsive and precise. Because it uses laser tracking, it works on pretty much any surface - light, dark, shiny, dull, smooth, rugged - you name it. It took on surfaces that my optical mice have trouble tracking - with no problems.- Mouse Customizability
All buttons can be completely customized. These include the left and right buttons, the wheel click, and the two buttons on the side traditionally set to forward and backward.Cons
----
- Lagging Quirk
Periodically, there a slight lag in response from the keyboard for about a second or two, before it "catches up" with the typing - not terribly bothersome, but definitely noticeable.
- [Update: Every so often, the keyboard loses connectivity momentarily. At first, it was an occasional glitch, which was bearable, but as time went by it became more and more frequent, and now it's just plain unbearable.]
- [Update: The keyboard also seems to have developed the problem of repeating certain keystrokkes - justt likkke that. I find myself having to backspace to correct the glitch every few minutes - very annoying!]- Mouse Has Too Much Friction with Surfaces
There is more friction between the mouse and surfaces for my liking. I guess I'm spoiled by the way my Logitech mouse glides on most surfaces - thanks to the coating of Teflon on the bottom of its contact points. Having a mouse that glides effortlessly really makes for a much more pleasant mousing experience.- Lack of a "Click-to-Click" Wheel
This is a biggie for me - I am thoroughly used to a mouse wheel that gives you tactile feedback of a "notch"/click as you turn it, so I'm very disappointed to find out that the wheel of this mouse turns almost frictionlessly. It's a problem because most people have their mouse optimally set to scroll 3 lines at each click/notch (the default setting), so it requires some effort to precisely control the click-less/notch-less turning of the wheel for scrolling a page up or down to the desired position.- Mouse Customizability
The left and right tilting motion of the mouse is strictly reserved for left and right scrolling, and is thus not customizable. So far, I've found one particular application (Opera) the side-to-side scrolling doesn't work on.Conclusion
----------
What impressed me most about both the keyboard and mouse is how much they help in alleviating wrist strain to help me work more comfortably. I give it high marks for ergonomics, which is a pretty compelling incentive for me to switch to it from my Logitech keyboard/mouse combo. However, it has some quirks, and there are a couple of drawbacks to the mouse, the most significant of which is the lack of a "click-to-click" wheel - something I find very hard to get past. There you have it; the above are some considerations you might want to take into account before deciding whether the Microsoft Natural Keyboard/Mouse Combo is right for you.
[Update: I see at least a couple of reviewers have, like me, come back to downgrade their rating and update their reviews after they, too, started having connectivity problems with the keyboard/mouse. I was initially stoked about the ergonomics this package has to offer and was prepared to accept a couple of minor quirks. However, the glitches became more than just "noticeable"; they became unbearable as connectivity problems became more and more frequent. I'm switching back to my Logitech, which gives me rock solid reliability.]

Microsoft Wireless Media Desktop 1000 (Black) Review

Microsoft Wireless Media Desktop 1000 (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Prior to getting this, I have been using a Dell provided Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, made by Logitech I believe.
Which means I'm probably a little spoiled for wireless products. The only fault was that the battery life was a bit less than I would have preferred. Indeed, I was also intrigued by quiet typing and water resistance claims. So, I took the leap and got this Microsoft set.
First the bad. The mouse is worthless. Really is. I've gotten used to the side buttons and other features of my present mouse. This mouse has the two buttons and a scroll wheel. The two buttons work okay, but the wheel makes for entirely random scrolling. It does not keep a steady speed, has no relation to the mouse setting in windows, and the average speed of scrolling is immensely slow, only a couple of lines.
Add this to the fact that affects both mouse and keyboard. The wireless connection is rather disappointing.
This set comes with a receiver that plugs into a usb port. The receiver is needlessly designed to look like an interesting addon. It is about the size of two mouses put together, with green lights on top that light up when connected. I'm a bit bothered by all the little lights computers seem to insist on and this just makes for more bother. If you could hide it, that might be okay, but the signal isn't strong enough. I have it right under my monitor and still get popups saying it has lost connection. It was really bad with the mouse, but still occasionally lapses with the keyboard, that is a foot away.
Any obstruction causes more problems. A real hassle. And adds to the general imprecision.
The keyboard itself is nice. The key noise really is significantly quieter. I've not tested the water resistance, but am comforted that it is there. The layout is a bit wider than other keyboards I've used, making for an initial bit of transition as I have to reach a bit farther for the higher keys. Those with smaller hands might find it uncomfortably wide. The programmable and media buttons are certainly handy, making for really quick access to programs that might not be always within an easy click.
Yet, I'm not sure such ease overcomes the deficiencies. I've already gone back to my bluetooth mouse. Now I'm using two usb ports for mouse and keyboard, a situation that may not continue and may get me to retire the microsoft keyboard as well. Which is sad. I wanted it to work better, but am ultimately frustrated by the wirelessness of the wireless.
It's not too costly, but the frustration it brings might justify either a little more money to get a setup that can be used without frustration, or invested in a non-wireless combo that provides all the functions without any batteries or bother.

Crayola® 3-Piece Computer Kit with Keyboard, Mouse & Photo Mouse Pad (11103) Review

Crayola® 3-Piece Computer Kit with Keyboard, Mouse and Photo Mouse Pad (11103)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I saw this keyboard, mouse, (customizable) mousepad combo at Costco for about 18 dollars and immediately grabbed it as I have been wanting a kid friendly keyboard for a custom PC just for my son. I'm so happy I found this one as now I do not have to fabricate my own.
' Aesthetics
The keyboard looks great and would look beautiful with a nice submerged setup, as the mouse is rockin' a tropical feel with a suspended resin island and palm tree. The keyboard also feels great and doesn't feel like a cheap kid's toy. The keyboard is perfect for youngsters as the keys are HUGE and make finding letters much easier than a regular keyboard. Junk keys (to a kid anyways...) are de-cluttered as the average 2 year old would have no use for F1-F12 and several other keys. ALT and CTRL are still in place as well as DELETE just in case your 2 year old shows signs of being an IT prodigy. The keyboard is nicely grouped for quick learning as follows:
Green = letters
Orange = numbers
Blue = common functions (enter, backspace, etc.)
Purple = punctuation and additional symbols
Red = Advanced Keys (Delete, Print Screen, Home etc.)
Yellow = arrow keys
The oversized buttons feel comfortable almost like an arcade pad and feel comfortable for both typing and gaming. Also, the WASD keys are lined up PERFECTLY for any games your child may play that requires use of them.
' Install
the keyboard installs instantly on XP and took a little bit of fussing with on windows 2000 to get the USB HID driver to install.
' Value
For less than 20 bucks you'd be lucky to find an adult USB keyboard, optical mouse, pad combo. This keyboard is truly unique and is an easy buy!
' Additional Info
If you havn't figured it out yet the keys are OVERSIZED. This keyboard is marked ages 4+ but may be more suitable for younger children still learning their alphabet, numbers, and basic reading skills. This keyboard should not be used for developing a child's WPM as this keyboard is designed for hunting and pecking.
' Does it work?
Yes. when my son first started showing interest in the computer I'd ask him to type certain letters and he'd have trouble locating the letter in the sea of 100+ keys available on my personal keyboard. Now that he has his own keyboard he quickly finds the letter he needs and is less likely to hit something he isn't supposed to and bring his typing activity to a standstill.
If your child shares a computer with you, windows can support multiple keyboards (I have a PS/2 and USB both connected) so that when an adult needs to type, the normal keyboard can be used.
After your child gets the most use out of this keyboard, there are children's keyboards sold that are manufactured at a 2/3rd scale so that they can start typing with their tiny fingers in a QWERTY typist manner. (ASDF JKL;)
I have seen other "children's" keyboards sold for nearly 60 dollars, but in actuality they are merely adult keyboards with a Duplo paint job. Remember, this keyboard set is for a small child, it not having mac keys is the least of your child's concern. Besides, teaching a child computer basics should be done on a PC and not a MAC, as that's what the world runs on. French is a lovely language, but if it's not your country's primary (or secondary etc.) language, then perhaps you should get your official language taught first before you move on to anything additional.

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 Review

Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this set for work because I enjoyed using them at home. I have a desk job where I use a computer all day. In brief, I love these ergonomic devices.
The mouse I give 4.5 stars. Both the mouse at work (and the one I own at home) are amazingly comfortable to hold and use. When you let your hand lay over the mouse, it positions your wrist in what I think of as a "handshake" position rather than flat on the desk. This takes about a week to get used to, but after that it's amazing how much better that angle is. It's a mouse that has a bit of "meat" to it, so it's better for my big hand to hold on to.
The mouse has a smooth-scrolling wheel, great for productivity (though bad for FPS games). Pressing the scroll-wheel for a middle-button effect is very hard to do with this particular wheel, but that's not much of an issue, as one of the two thumb buttons can be reassigned to the middle button functionality via the Microsoft software.
The keyboard I give 3.5 stars. It's wonderfully ergonomic and comfortable to use, but the "wireless" part of the equation makes it work a bit erratically from time to time. I type very quickly, and the keyboard will occasionally just lose keystrokes... or briefly stop receiving input altogether. I much prefer my home setup, where I have the Microsoft Natural Mouse hooked up wirelessly, and the Microsoft Natural Keyboard hooked up via USB.

Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 (Black) Review

Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this keyboard as a replacement for the original one came with my HP computer which is a USB wireless. I liked the original one but it can't be used with rechargeable AA for a long time. I had to keep recharging constantly. And I didn't like the idea of wasting throw away batteries.
This new keyboard is just as compact and light as the original, it's a minimalist's dream. Key stroke is very quiet and requires very short stroke kind of like using a notepad keyboard. Plug & play operation is extremely trouble free, you'll need no instruction at all. Some of the photos I have seen showing PS2(old type connection) adaptor included but mine didn't include it, which wasn't an issue for me. There's a special key for "calc" but I didn't have a problem starting it in a couple of key strokes, so it's not a big advantage. Another feature is its "spill-resistant design". It's nothing more than a several slits under the keyboard. If you spill water, it may help drying quicker, for anything else, you'll have a hard time getting it clean, probably never completely like any other keyboard.
Over all, I like everything about this keyboard with no negative opinion. Only thing I don't know about it is its durability but from the way I feel, it seems well made and will last for a long time.
The photo showing on this page is misleading. It comes with keyboard only without a mouse.

Logitech Wireless Desktop MK700 Keyboard and Laser Mouse Review

Logitech Wireless Desktop MK700 Keyboard and Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Before getting into the details, I want to first explain why I only gave this set 3-stars...
Along with the cons listed below, there were 2 major points that brought the score down:
1. The Set is marketed as "Built for power users who spend long hours working on their computers" and "designed to deliver exceptional comfort". But the layout of the keyboard is no different than any other "normal" keyboard. In other words, it's NOT an ergonomic keyboard, there's no adjustments that allow for more natural hand/wrist/finger placement. Carpal Tunnel prone folks should look elsewhere!
2. The current one-hundred dollar pricetag, in my opinion, is considerably overpriced considering competing products and especially because the keyboard is non-ergo.
Now, the Pros and Cons...
+++ Keyboard Pros
+ 4" and 8" legs on the back that allow adjusting the height
+ LCD gives a nice clear indicator of battery life, Num-Lock, Caps Lock, etc...
+ Palm rest is indeed comfortable, yet the cushioning is firm so should last a long time
+ The included software has lots of customization options to allow you to personalize the keyboard to your liking
+ Insanely long battery life
+ Batteries INCLUDED
--- Keyboard Cons
- The descriptions and info given infers the keyboard would be ergonomic. But that is not the case. The MK700 keyboard key layout is no different than any other bane of carpal-tunnel sufferers' keyboards.
- The 4" or 8" legs on the back is a nice option, but they could've gone a step further to allow height adjustment on the front of the keyboard as well.
+++ Mouse Pros
+ They keyboard might not be ergonomic, but the mouse sure is! I've got big hands (I wear XL sized gloves) and having my hand on the mouse is only slightly different than if I just had my hand resting on the table and not holding anything at all. It's very comfortable
+ The Hyper-Scrollwheel is a heavier metal/alloy (vs. the Logitech MX1100 mouse I use). This makes for a very nice and smooth hyper-scroll or click-to-click scroll.
+ Forward/Back buttons well placed for thumb press
+ Battery life indicator on the mouse
+ The included software allows almost complete control over customization of the buttons
+ Lonnnnnnng battery life.
+ Batteries INCLUDED
--- Mouse Cons
- To switch between Hyper and click-to-click scrolling is on the bottom of the mouse. I switch back and forth a lot on my MX1100, where the switch is right below the scrollwheel. Having the switch on the bottom with this MK700 is rather inconvenient.
*** Final Words
I've gone through multiple models of keyboards and mice through the years. Microsoft, Logitech, ergo, non-ergo, etc... My current "Gold Standard" are the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3 and the Logitech MX1100 mouse. As a matter of fact, buying those 2 items separately right now would actually cost LESS than this combo.
I prefer the MS keyboard because; the layout of the keys IS ergonomic, but at the same time the keyboard overall is very slim/sleek. You can adjust height adjustment for either the back or front, or even both. It has considerably more customizable extra keys.
I prefer the Logitech MX1100 mouse because; the Hyper/click-to-click switch is right by the scrollwheel. Adjustable DPI, with 2 presets that can be changed on-the-fly via the +/- buttons on the mouse. Application Switcher thumb button, shows a collage of all open windows on screen so you can quickly and easily switch apps.
On the whole, the MK700 mouse and keyboard are quality products but the pricepoint and lack of ergonomics for the keyboard. Even if you didn't care about the ergo aspect, there are other options out there with more options and still cost less.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse Review

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse

I'm extremely picky about the keyboard and mouse I use. Currently, I'm using the Apple BT Aluminum keyboard and Logitech VX Nano mouse with my Mac. I received this keyboard, expecting to just be able to use it with my Windows system, but how wrong I was...
First, the box is MISLABELED. It says you need a Windows XP or Windows Vista system. LIES. Second, the box shows the keyboard with no Apple-specific commands. LIES. The actual keyboard has the command logo on both Alt keys, as well as the Mac option key on the Windows button.
Bizarrely, the drivers included in the box only are for Windows XP and Windows Vista, which I cannot fathom for the life of me.. Make a quick trip to Logitech.com and download their drivers for the Mac, after which both the keyboard and mouse show up in the little Logitech control panel within System Preferences. Battery level and key bindings are all there and configurable!
Usage for keyboard:
Excellent. I was initially turned off by the layout of the keys, with its slight swoop and dip, but after using it for a bit, it grows on you and you learn to actually like it quite a good deal! The keys are soft, and not too loud, and very tactile. You definitely get the feeling of a quality keyboard. And the palm rest is lovely; a cushion-like affair. It uses two regular Duracell AA batteries.
On the Mac side, all the iTunes keys work, including play/pause/forward/back etc etc, and all the special keys for opening an e-mail or the calculator work, too! You can remap any of the function keys to open any Mac/Windows-specific application you want. Excellent!
The mouse:
A very comfortable mouse, with a "hidden" button where your thumb rests (it opens Expose in Mac OS X by default - nice!). There's not a huge amount to say about the mouse, really. It's sort of a cross between the Logitech MX Revolution (without the thumb wheel), and the VX Revolution. I really like it, and it doesn't suffer from the input lag like the Apple BT mouse does. (Note: This is a right-handed mouse only...)
A very nice feature of the mouse, and this shows that Logitech cares, is that it uses a rechargeable battery. Now that by itself isn't that impressive, but hear me out.... First, it's user-replaceable, and second, it's not just any old generic battery. It's a Sanyo Eneloop AA battery, which is a high-quality battery that suffers very little battery drain when idling. The mouse can be recharged using the included AC adapter, or from your computer. So while it's 2.4Ghz wireless, you can use it while charging it, which is great! The USB cable plugs into the front of the mouse, essentially turning it into a "wired" mouse (though it never actually stops being wireless in the sense that it always uses the 2.4Ghz adapter to connect to your PC/Mac).
Overall, I can't even begin to state how impressive this set is. That said, someone at Logitech needs a good slap on the wrist to update the box to specify that this keyboard/mouse set really is DESIGNED for Mac OS as much as it is for Windows XP or Vista.
I can't recommend this mouse and keyboard highly enough. 5/5
**EDIT**
Logitech, for no apparent reason, has updated their driver release from 2.6 to 2.7 for Macs, removing support for this keyboard/mouse set! If you want to be able to customize buttons etc on the keyboard/mouse, be sure to find the Logitech Control Center 2.6, not the latest (as of March 24, 2009) 2.7 version. I'm following up with Logitech about this madness...

Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) Review

Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555)

I am very impressed with this product. I have used many, many keyboards and wireless mice over the years and this keyboard / mouse combo really are excellent. They both look and feel high quality with a soft rubberized coating on the mouse and the keyboard wrist wrest.
I have been using a Microsoft Natural keyboard 4000 for the ergonomics and convenience buttons. This Logitech keyboard is MUCH, MUCH quieter and the spacebar is much easier to press. In addition, I think that the convenience buttons (like the volume control, media center launcher, etc) are much easier to see and use on this Logitech Keyboard than the Microsoft Natural keyboard. I will say that I occasionally thought that I noticed a bit of a delay with the keys I typed not showing up on the screen instantly. I'm not sure if I can blame that on the keyboard or not, but whatever the case it wasn't something that caused me enough of a problem to knock a star off the rating. Since I'm now using this keyboard as my keyboard I'll update this review if it becomes problematic.
The mouse is a good size and fit. It does not have an ergonomic slant to it where your hand is tilted a bit to give your wrist a more natural positions, but my thumb and ring finger just seemed to go perfectly into the grooves and the convenience buttons worked well. This is the first optical / laser mouse I've had that doesn't light up. No red glow, but it is works great!
The one thing that you need to know about this product is that it is really what I would call an ergonomic "blend" product. By that I mean that the keyboard is more ergonomic than a standard straight keyboard and the keys are very easy to press, but it definitely is not as ergonomic as a keyboard with a true split keyboard that is angled up in the middle. This will be completely up to your preference of which style you prefer and the product marketing material makes it very clear that this keyboard is more ergonomic than a standard but doesn't require learning how to type again. I would say that is true. I've used various split style ergonomic keyboards for years where the keys are literally split along the T-G-B keys for the left hand and Y-H-N keys for the right hand. I like that style and may go back to it, but often people will sit down to use my split style keyboard and find that they can't type very well. With this Logitech keyboard, my wife noticed that there is a bit of a difference from her regular keyboard due to the bit of ergonomics factored into "wave" of the keyboard, but it didn't seem to cause problems for her to type. So to that end, I suppose that the product works as advertised and isn't a reason to knock a star off, but you definitely should beware that it isn't as ergonomic as some keyboards on the market, such as the Microsoft Natural Keyboard.
I have to rave about the wireless receiver. It is the smallest receiver I've ever seen. It really is about the size of thumbtack and the single receiver works for both the keyboard and mouse. The mouse has a little slot for storing the receiver, so it can be safely stowed away. I was very impressed by the fact that I plugged it in, pulled the battery tapes out of both the keyboard and mouse and everything instantly started working (I use Windows 7). That was all it took to get most of the functionality working. Most of the extra functionality buttons like volume control worked immediately. I did end up installing the software from the CD to get the last few buttons to work, but that was no big deal. I stood back about 12 feet to see if the receiver would work from that distance and it worked fine.
I am impressed with the build quality, the quietness, the small receiver, and how easy it was to get started with it. I also liked that Logitech included the Duracell batteries pre-installed in the keyboard and mouse, with only having to pull a tab to activate them (Note: the keyboard and the most each take 2 standard AA batteries). I would prefer a keyboard that has a bit more of an ergonomic split to it, but I also know that many people can't stand that style of keyboard. So perhaps this keyboard is a pretty good blend or ergonomics and ease of use for most people. In the end, you probably would be wise to go try it out in the store to see if you really like how it feels. If you like the feel of it, then I think you'll be really happy with how well it works once you get it home.

ProMini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (Build-in TouchPad/Laser Pointer) - Black Review

ProMini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (Build-in TouchPad/Laser Pointer) - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great little Bluetooth keyboard. As other reviewers have stated it's a little tricky to set up the phone on android (and Windows 7). The instruction booklet that came with the keyboard said there is an "android.apk" to install on Android, this isn't true (they are only drivers for Windows Mobile and Nokia). It's an easy work-around though.
Pairing Android:
1) Turn on the keyboard and long press the bluetooth key on the top left till the indicator light starts blinking
2) Click scan for devices on your Android device
3) Select the newly found Macro Keyboard
4) Enter "0000" as the pairing code on your android
5) Enter "0000" and then the "Enter" key on the keyboard to complete the pairing process.
When pairing with Windows 7 if your Bluetooth drivers create a pairing code automatically for you just enter the code shown in Windows on the keyboard followed by the enter key (or just type whatever pairing code you want in Windows and repeat it on the keyboard).
All-in-all this is a great little keyboard. I would have given it 5 stars if it did actually come with the android drivers and had better documentation.
I'm looking for a driver that will create a visual mouse cursor on my Droid X to make better use of the touchpad. If I find one I'll post it here!
Also, to go back a page in Android hit the Esc key not the Back key... just fyi...
