(More customer reviews)I purchased this to be used like a netbook, except bigger and with all the benefits of a laptop. For $320 (Best Buy) you can't go wrong. For a light mobile laptop that is as quick as you need it to be and offers all the features a netbook doesn't, this is a perfect alternative. This will make a perfect laptop for a teen, college student or the person on the run. This isn't a Toshiba high end laptop, but for surfing the Internet, using Office and connecting it to my cable line and recording TV, this thing handles it all with no problems and does it fairly quickly. The graphics and sound quality is pretty good, and the 15" screen is perfect for watching TV. I am impressed and I am glad I came upon this opportunity instead of going with a netbook for just a bit more. This is a nice laptop and a steal for what I paid, even for the price offered on Amazon, but I recommend checking around (Best Buy on-line). You can't go wrong, Toshiba makes great products and from what I have seen in the week of using this, this is one of them.

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PEB-RRED01S 10.1-Inch Netbook (Red) Review

(More customer reviews)With an impressive and solid build, this little netbook might just be the perfect balance between utility and cost. The N450 processor gives some decent "umph" to this machine and the intel graphics are suitable for most tasks, assuming you're not going to try to play 3D games. Battery life for the 6-cell battery is impressive; in use and on auto-high, it has delivered more than 9 hours of usage, and almost 11 on economy mode.
The keyboard is solid and has a pleasant feel. It's not quite full-size, but it is easy to adjust to. The wireless b/g/n adapter works perfectly and matches the range of my large laptop. 3 usb ports, a vga out, an ethernet connection, and a built-in card reader add to the versatility of this unit. Windows 7 is peppy in this platform and Firefox performs very well. Even with 1 gig of memory, I use only between 45% and 75% with most applications, much better than Vista. I've opened 30 windows on this box without windows complaining, so I have not yet found the 2G upgrade necessary. 250G of disk storage rounds out the package nicely.
The display is beautiful and high-contrast; colors really stand out. As with all laptops, the angle of the LCD is important to getting the best image. My one complaint about this netbook is that I wished the display would tilt back a little more (45 degrees is the limit). My low desk demands a little more tilt, but other users will not have this problem--certainly not if the computer is sitting on your lap.
As to video, I have found that it streams netflix very well, with no jerkiness on high and super settings. High movement flash is a little more of a problem and I have found framerates of 20 FPS to be normal for Hulu. The next flash upgrade should directly support the graphics card in this computer, so the problem will eventually be solved. There are a number of reviewers on other sites who have said this machine will not support HD video. If you follow some of the codec tweaks posted online, you can indeed play HD on this unit. After a few such (very small and easy) tweaks, I was able to get both 720p and 1080p mkv and h264 video playing very smoothly.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a good balance of performance, versatility, battery life, and price, you could do a lot worse than this fine little netbook.

Creative WebCam Live Ultra for Notebooks VF0070 Review

(More customer reviews)I travel a lot and I purchased this model for my laptop and Creative's Webcam Live! Pro 2.0 for my home computer. My intention was to use the two, in conjunction with MSN Messenger, to talk to the wife and two little ones while on the road via a high-speed internet connection. I won't get into every little detail, rather I will hit on the major items. These apply to both products unless otherwise stated;
PROS
- Software installation was simple
- Hardware installation was simple
- Unit worked perfect right out of the box
- Configuration took about 2 minutes
- Sync with MSN Messenger took about 30 seconds.
- Picture looks good, just as expected.
- The notebook cam comes with a decent little headset and a little carry bag for travel
- The unit is very wife friendly
- I was able to teach my wife and 7 year old son how to make and receive calls on MSN Messenger in about 3 minutes.
CONS
- I have a new IBM Thinkpad and the front lid edge is fairly thick. The camera mount will fit but it is a tight squeeze and I am afraid I might eventually break the mount off. Instead, I am able to spin the lens up and lay the canera on it's "belly", hooking it on the lid edge. It is stable enough and it works just fine. It is actually easier to setup that way.
NOTES
- I have a brand new laptop and a 1 year old desktop
- I am using USB 2.0 ports
- I am running Windows XP Home on one computer and PRO on the other. SP2 on both
- I am using only high-speed internet connections, one end is from a hotel.
- I am running the latest version of MSN Messenger
- I use my personal MSN Messenger account (the free hotmail one) on the laptop, and I setup a new account on the home computer
- My wife can barely turn the computer on and she was able to learn how to make and receive a call in a few minutes
- The camera came with a headset, but I use my laptop's built in microphone and speakers - works great. I use my desktop speakers and the supplied mic with the desktop version.
- I am very impressed with both these products. They work just as I expected and they are simple to use.

* The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is the floppy drive. Yep... the thing has a floppy drive as well as a DVD drive.
* The iMicro speakers are the type you'd find at the $1 store. Audio is almost nil.
* 2006 graphics card is so basic it can't even play the first-edition Sims, but it plays Crusader fine.
* The "Genuine" WinXP disc is the cheap one for refurbs.
* Uncommon amount of heat coming off it, it seems.
Now the Good:
* It is exactly as advertised (still would've wanted to be apprised of the floppy drive's presence, though).
* The monitor, keyboard and mouse look and work great.
* Hardly any noise at all from the PC.
* Fast! And enough room for all the kids' games, even if some of them don't work on this system.
* I feel I've gotten my money's worth, even though it turns out its not the bargain I thought it was.

(More customer reviews)I just received my cordless mx duo and have to say that this is by far the best keyboard and mouse I have ever owned. The keyboard is whisper quiet, the mouse is so responsive I sometimes think it's telepathic, and the enclosed software (this refers to the Mac OS X software) is top-notch, easy to use and programmable to your liking, plus incredibly stable. The price alone for both products (and only having to deal with one cordless transmitter and losing only one USB port) is reason enough to buy them together instead of separately. Even if you're thinking of just getting a new mouse, or a new keyboard, get them both and watch your amazement at how wonderful these two products work seemlessly together. Even the keyboard has a little scroll wheel and internet buttons if you don't feel like reaching over to your mouse (which also has a scroll wheel) or taking your hands off the keyboard because you're busily typing. This is one mouse and keyboard that even Microsloth can't copy (their late-in-the-game accessories are made by hewlett-packard and redistributed under the MS logo) just yet. But give them time. ;)
Every button on each Logitech product is fully configurable, but you may not want to fiddle around in the Logitech control panel. The default settings are already intuitive, and the mouse feels so good under your palm, you'll probably be saying goodbye to sore wrists in no time! Speaking of which, the mouse is incredibly smooth and responsive (for a cordless optical), and you have to wonder how they did it. Which I did, and I learned that it uses the very latest in cutting-edge RF technology. If you're a graphic designer, or even a regular computer user, you will not regret this purchase. People who have tried my mouse and keyboard were simply stunned by its incredible looks, feel, and handling. And so will you. Though your boss may think you're not working because the keyboard is so quiet!

Palm 3169WW Universal Wireless Keyboard Review

(More customer reviews)The Palm Wireless Keyboard makes life easier for me. My information/Review is based on my own experience with this keyboard.
Installation: Put the disc in, follow instruction, perform hot sync, and wala! I'm done in 3 minutes. I don't know why others have problem with this.
How to use the keyboard: You have to turn the keyboard on FROM the PDA. On my Palm T|X, I go to the keyboard shortcut and turn it on. Maybe that's why others are having problem. It is not a plug and play type keyboard. You have to turn it ON from the PDA before you can use it. And by the way, your PDA has to be in place and align with the keyboard's IR to turn it on.
Design: C'mon, it's a black keyboard. How different is that from the other keyboards? You're supposed to use this keyboard to make life easier, not to compete in a "who has the prettiest keyboard" competition. The design is no different from a laptop keyboard. I can agree with others that this is not an easy keyboard to use if you are on a meeting trying to type everything. I can type 60+ words per minute on a regular keyboard but maybe 30+ on this keyboard only because I'm not used to it. But if I'm on my own pace I don't even notice.
Stability: I don't have any stability issues with this keyboard. I used this bad boy on the plane, train, school, ship, bus and at home and I never had any stability issues. Unless you are running or experiencing an earthquake, then yeah, stability would be an issue. And remember, this is a PORTABLE KEYBOARD; it folds so you can carry it with you.
Battery: two AAA batteries lasted me 3 months. Not bad at all. No complaints there. And yes, I use this keyboard at least 5 hours a week when I'm in the US and about 7 hours if I'm overseas.
Overall: It gets the job done for me. I can do my assignments, chat with my daughter, surf the web, check and send emails, calculate numbers and use PowerPoint with it. Don't be intimidated by other reviews. Find out for yourself. I'm glad I did and life just got a lot easier when using my T|X. I hope my experience can help you with your decision. Trust me, you won't regret buying this keyboard.
