I researched for 6 months before choosing this IBM. Great value, solid notebook. Love the keyboard and the access IBM help. I have called tech support for information and help with software installations and driver updates and they were very good and patient with all my detailed questions. This is important to me... to have good tech support available. This T41 comes with a 3 year warranty.
IBM's website has excellent support. I love the automated stuff where it analyzes your computer and tells you what updates you need. Sometimes their driver upgrades are more for the IT person. But, just download their software installer and it works great. However, you must focus...if you want to understand what you have downloaded. Not totally for the novice. Tech support walked me thru it once and I was on my way.
So far so good after only a month, the T41 rocks! Particularly the higher-end graphics card, glad I went for that. I can tell the difference when comparing with my desktop LCD.
The CD burner works well and I use Nero 6. I had been using a 4x burner on my desktop and this one writes at 24x...what a difference.
If you are contemplating a notebook, consider this one. Pay the extra bucks and go with IBM...very glad I did!

No matter how specific your requirements, chances are IBM has a ready-made mobile computer to cover them. For those users who appreciate lightweight portability and battery efficiency more than overwhelming power, the ThinkPad T41 (2379DJU) Notebook PC is a solid choice. You won’t want to use it in demanding business environments or as a 3D gaming rig, but the ThinkPad T41 (2379DJU) will otherwise fit quite nicely in most personal or light-duty professional situations. It’s also relatively inexpensive in comparison with the majority of IBM notebooks, and that should make any computer buyer happy.
Driven by a 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium-M processor with Intel’s new Centrino technology (Centrino processors offer improved battery life and more power than similarly rated non-Centrino CPUs), the ThinkPad T41 (2379DJU) is fast and easy on the batteries. The unit is equipped with a minimal 256 MB of 333 MHz main memory, which can be doubled or quadrupled for improved general and multitasking performance. Its graphics controller, an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 32 MB of dedicated video memory, helps power the unit through midlevel 3D applications and games but won’t deliver smooth frame rates when asked to operate today’s newest high-end 3D games and 3D design apps.
Tipping the scales at a scant 4.9 lbs. and measuring just 12.2 by 10.0 by 1.0 inches, the ThinkPad T41 (2379DJU) is exceptionally easy to transport and operate. IBM has equipped the system with an average-sized 40 GB hard disk for file and program storage, a CD-RW/DVD drive through which you can listen to and burn audio CDs and watch DVD movies, and a 14.1-inch TFT display screen capable of super detailed 1400 by 1050 resolutions. DVD writing is not supported.
The ThinkPad T41 (2379DJU) is home to many unique and practical perks, including a nifty keyboard-illuminating ThinkLight for low-light situations, an S-Video out port, two high-speed USB 2.0 ports for fast interaction with external peripherals, and a full-size keyboard featuring IBM’s user-friendly ThinkPad UltraNav multi-pointing system. An IEEE 1394 FireWire connection, typically used for downloading data from digital camcorders, is not part of the package.
Communication options are excellent. The unit sports a low-speed 56K fax/modem, a super-fast Intel/PRO 1000 Gigabit Ethernet Ethernet connector for incrementally faster network access than traditional LAN technology, and Intel PRO wireless for those times when you can’t plug in. Battery life is estimated at an admirable 4.4 hours under ideal conditions.

so i'm typing on it now . . .
the clicking noise gets old fast and it's about as fast as a cell phone keyboard. took a while to set up but it runs fine now. i haven't been able to get it running on my Droid yet. over all it's worth it for a little less money (used a coupon). I hope it's studier than it looks. Hardcore geeks don't waste your time. Casual users better have a geek on hand for setup.

Caselogic VNA210 10.2-Inch Netbook/iPad Attache (Black) Review

Caselogic VNA210 10.2-Inch Netbook/iPad Attache (Black)

This is a well-made but relatively inexpensive bag for a laptop PC. It is so light that I can barely feel its weight, but it still has sufficient padding to protect its contents against bumps during everyday use.
This is NOT the kind of case with zippers that can be pulled further to the left and right sides when you open the bag. In other words, the opening for you to put in and take out things is very small. Does this matter? Yes, if you have a laptop PC that measures diagonally 15.6 to 16 inches. The fit is snug, and because of the narrow opening, putting in and taking out a computer is not that smooth and easy. Although the zippers are plastic, there is a chance of them scraping against the computer's edges. I would not recommend this case if you have concerns about this aspect. If your computer is a netbook, which is about 10 inches diagonal, then this case will be fine.
There is an USB thumb drive pocket in the main compartment, where the computer is stored, but I feel it is not a good location, because it is likely to chafe against the laptop computer. There are two side pockets. I use the larger one to store AC adapter, cord, mouse pad, and mouse.
I deem this bag more suitable for carrying smaller laptops. It is not suitable for 15.6 to 16-inch laptops because of the tight fit.Update (2-4-2011):
Case Logic has another 16-inch case that zipper opens three sides instead of just one. It is called Case Logic VNCi-116 Value 16-Inch Laptop Briefcase. It will easily fit any 16-inch notebook computer. Even my 17.3-inch HP DV7 can be accommodated in the case. You can read my review on its web page on Amazon.com.

Lifeworks Technology iHome iConnect Media Keyboard Review

Lifeworks Technology iHome iConnect Media Keyboard

I was very excited to tryout this keyboard. I'm always looking for innovative ideas and combo type products. Here we have a keyboard with a 2 USB ports (that swivel up), full numeric keypad, some touch sensitive media controls and a dock for ipod/iphones. I was looking for a wireless keyboard but purchased this one cause of all the options. It also came with a wireless mouse with scroll wheel.
The only thing that I liked about it was the sleek styling and the media controls. These were not buttons but touch sensitive controls with blue lighting that worked well. The volume was a set of blue dots that you swipe your finger across in either direction for more or less volume. The play/pause control was an actual button to the left by the pod cradle. The rest was all downhill from there.
First, off you have to plug in a power adaptor that they say needs to be pluged in all the time (I figured this was for charging/powering the pods). I never tried the keyboard without it to see if it would work. After wanting a wireless one I was annoyed that I had to deal with yet another extra wire and make room in my already filled power strip.
Second, the opening and closing of the pod cover door was not intuitive. It took me a few tries to open and to close it right which made it to where I just wanted to always leave it open. It held my iphone just fine and everything synced fine of course.
Third, was the keyboard layout. Everything on the right side of the keyboard was crammed together. The backspace key was in the middle of keys and was the size of a normal key. I much prefer it to be the last top right key and be double wide for easy of use. This was the same with the right shift key. It was single wide and even more difficult dot find and use. The arrow keys were also crammed into the keys around the control and shift as well as all the location keys (home, del, end etc.). This alone made the keyboard useless to me.
Forth, and worst of all, was the numeric keypad. I always use this instead of the QWERTY numbers and let me tell you this was impossible to work with. For some reason the keys are not your basic keyboard keys like the rest of the keyboard (like any other keyboard). They thought it would look sleek if they made these keys all flush with each other. This makes it hard to hit the right key. Add to that the fact that they barely press down, made almost on noise and had no tactile feedback. I kept hitting the keys and not typing all the numbers. Then I figured I had to hit push them harder and that was worse. You could get no speed with them. I noticed that the keys sort of wobbled if pressed off center and that was the key, to press directly down and directly in the center. I tried for 3 days to get used to it with much typing that I had to do and was hoping to try it for a few weeks, after 3 days I cold take no more.
The real buttons on the rest of the keyboard were fair but not the best. I have a Logitech G11 gaming keyboard that I love the key action on and even a wireless IOgear (for my home theater PC) that is my favorite. I've decided to go with another IOgear. Its wireless with 30ft range (15 in real world) and forgo the fancy options and hated wires.

Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAs Review

Bluetooth HID Wireless Keyboard Mouse Control for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone 4, PDAs

It connected to my IPhone 3gs(v4) the first time and it gives you a unique 4 digit pin on the phone's screen each time you pair so you don't have to remember the code. This keyboard is the perfect size (just longer than a dollar bill); any smaller and it would be too small and any larger it wouldn't be as portable. The keys are only slightly smaller than a regular keyboard which means you can place both hands on the keys with the j and f home keys (big hands could be a problem). It take a little practice because there is no shift key on the right side so touch typers must remember to shift with the left. Most of the special keys (;-::"?) are Fn keys not in their normal locations but all of the alpha and numeric are standard. The Keys lack the slant found on the standard keyboard which take a little getting up to speed so don't expect 80 wpm out of the box - it's a learning curve. Your techo friends will be green with envy.

This is an update of a review I submitted 10 days ago. The most important thing you should realize is that this keyboard does not behave as a rigid keyboard does. That's both good news and bad news. The good news is that it's easy to fold and can easily fit into a standard Ziplock bag with lots of room to spare. It's ultra-portable. The bad news is that all this malleability comes at a price.
I find that when I type on the keyboard, I often make mistakes. Letters either repeat or don't appear at all. There is undoubtedly a learning curve to reduce typos, but what confounds me is that the keys are not equally calibrated as far as touch is concerned. A relatively light touch on let's say the "x" might yield multiple x's, whereas the same level of pressure on the "y" might not yield anything at all. The trick to using the keyboard is to keep your eye on the iPhone screen and make sure that your input is being entered as you intend.
While you may need to make corrections as you enter text, you will nevertheless find that text entry is much faster with this KB than with the iPhone's virtual keyboard. In contrast, my fingers fly on the Apple bluetooth KB, and there's no error correction needed. On the other hand, my dollars were flying faster, too (at $70 versus $30).
Pairing is easy, and if you're on a Mac or using an iPhone 4, you don't need the CD that ships with the KB.
In my earlier review I wrote, "I received the KB yesterday, just a few days after I ordered, and immediately fell in love with it....Today, while showing this amazing KB off to some friends, an entire row of keys (asdf) and the space bar stopped working."
I'm happy to say that the distributor was incredibly responsive to my problem. They paid for my return shipping and immediately sent me a replacement via Priority Mail.
Disappointingly, the new KB didn't leave as positive a first impression as its predecessor. The original KB did not exhibit the same level of key pressure unevenness. This leads me to believe that the keyboards are somewhat idiosyncratic. Quality varies from KB to KB.
In summary, this is a great peripheral to carry around with you for light typing. It's incredibly compact and lightweight. But, if you plan to sit in an airport for several hours and catch up on your email or do heavy some document editing in your favorite Microsoft Office substitute app, you would probably be better served by a rigid keyboard.

This is a wonderful and compact keyboard that gives you the ability to more easily type on your devices such as an iPad and iPad 2 WIFI and 3G or mobile phone. Keep your iPad and iPad 2 at a slight distance and type away just like you are on a computer. This product is even better when combined with the Menotek 16 Position Stand(ASIN B003K1VABO) or the Menotek Travel and Car USB Charger Kit (ASIN B003VCYX9I). The charger kit will allow you to charge your keyboard with the USB Charging cable included with the keyboard without needing a computer.Size: 11.5"X4.5"
