(More customer reviews)I was very pleased to find that the computer was everything I wanted and more. The processor, as it turns out, is a 4600+, above the processor speed that is listed. It is a 2.41 GHz and runs like none other. The K&M is wireless just so that is specified and all the programs run on it just fine and with amazing speed. Only complaint is I wish it came with more LightScribe disks to try out because it is so cool and easy to use I wanted to keep making labels.

The battery life runs just under 4 hours at this point and the memory seems more than adaquate. I chose this machine over a similarly outfitted Toshiba due to it's weight (it's almost 2 pounds lighter) and I have no regrets.

Pros-
a. HUGE screen that really allows you to see a lot at one time
b. really fast computer. Benchmarks were outstanding for this product when I ran them right out of the box. They did nothng but improve after I did all the recommended steps (esp. driver upgrades)
c. Lots of goodies that no other laptop has... 4 USB 2.0 ports are great, and the DVD R/RW is really fast (4x) by today's standards. The 5400 rpm hd is fast, though with 60GB isn't the biggest out on the market these days (though with a dvd rw you really can't mind too much)
Cons-
a. This puppy is BIG... and heavy. Even though the screen is a whopping 17 inches, there is an area around the screen of unused plastic (about a 1-1.5 inch edge) This only adds to the huge footprint of this laptop.
b. The keyboard is relatively big, but is still not quite full size. In fact, the keyboard on my 15 inch compaq laptop is actually wider by almost 3/4 of an inch. It is still a capable keyboard though. It is also placed in about the center of the huge case, which can make using it a bit uncomfortable.
c. Lights, Lights, Lights... boy, this thing has a lot of pretty blue and green lights... and I can't find any way to turn them off. This can be a bit distracting while watching a movie in the dark.
d. Battery/TV tuner issues. there is only one battery port, and if you want to use a secondary drive (or the included tv tuner for that matter) you have to remove the battery. I know it seems semi-logical as you will be plugged into a cable anyway for the tv, but at the same time, you would think toshiba would find a way to incorperate a battery.
e. price- lets face it... this isn't the cheapest laptop on the planet... though it is one of the fastest and best equipped
All in all, I would probably rate this as a 4.5 star computer. I haven't fallen in love with it yet, but the courtship is well on its way.

(More customer reviews)The Compaq Presario CQ60-210US is a very nice, feature rich laptop for home or student use. I was truely impressed with ease of setup, which took about 15 minutes from opening the box and connecting the battery.
This is a rather large laptop and it is somewhat heavy, but not unreasonably so. Here are my observations:
* Large 15.6" screen is very sharp
* Keyboard includes a numeric keypad
* Good sized Hard Drive
* DL DVD RW
* Fast Processor (beats the heck out of my old ACER)
* Lots of RAM (expandable to 4GB)
* 3 USB ports
* Built in Wi-Fi support
* Built in Eathernet
* Built in Modem (but why? :-)
* Built in 5-1 Memory Card reader
Note that this laptop does not have any card expansion slots! This isn't a problem for me, but might be an issue for those wanting to add Firewire or other non-included (like DV) support.
The system scored a respectable 3.8 on the Windows performance scale, which is fairly good for a laptop.
Overall, I am very pleased with Presario CQ60-210US! Highly Recommended!

It now overheats, the fan constantly runs and it totally shuts down every 20 minutes. I first wrote a decent review on this product but I spoke too soon. I contacted the seller about the problems and their reply was that nothing could be done since it was outside the 30 day warranty. Ok, my bad. 30 days? This item is a piece of junk. You would do better to go to the big box store and get something much nicer and reliable for the same price!! I currently own a computer purchased at a big box store for approximately the same price and IT STILL WORKS AFTER 6 YEARS!!! So the way I figure it is that I rented this computer for about $100 a month. It's just an expensive paperweight now. Trust me, don't fall for the favorable reviews or the "helpful" customer service. This merchant is a rip off and sells defective products. I realize that I took a chance buying something refurbished with a 30 day warranty, but the computer was still a little pricey. Stay far away from this merchant and their products. I learned the hard way. They got their money. My daughter has a useless machine. Don't make the same mistake I did. Save yourself money and aggravation and get something reliable. Look elsewhere.

(More customer reviews)I bought this computer because my HP was 2005 vintage littered with all kinds of software. I really like Ausus & like the idea of an all in one. I have a thing about finger prints on monitors so the lack of touch screen was not a minus. This computer has the NVIDIA ION engine & I like the idea of "enhanced graphics"
So what's not to like? The computer graphics are no better or worse than those on my HP I have been using. That computer had Intel enhanced graphics & a top of the line Samsung monitor new in 2008. I expected the Asus to run circles are the old computer but they are about equal which is excellent graphics rendering.
And the Asus-with its Atom processor dual core still strains in ripping CDs. It has a nice internal speaker system-better than average but not exceptional.
So the bottom line is that this computer is aethetically pleasing but its performance is nothing special. I guess my expectations were higher than what was delivered. But the kicker was that the computer's over all performance was no better than what I already had. So the computer is fine but so is my software cluttered old computer.
UPDATE: When I reviewed this computer-I was unaware that the C Drive Partition on this computer was 40 Gig. The Data Partition was 250Gig. That is How this computer was set up by Asus at the factory. By defualt-Programs you download go to the C- Not the D partition. Who cares? If you own this computer-you will. What happens is that the C partition is way too small, and overflows. Asus Tech support stinks and they offer no remedy. You can repartition but you need to download third party software. I would NOT buy this Asus model under any circumstances. One star if I could re-rate this review.

I notice during one day of opening the LCD display panel that it was popping or coming loose during opening and closing the netbook. I tried to look for the manual to disassemble the unit but did not find any at there website, I email there tech support and still haven't got a reply. I have a Acer notebook and the disassembly instructions were included. I lucky have had experienced with assembling notebook. I carefully disassemble it to see what the cause was. I notice that there are two small screws that mounts the lcd display panel to the bottom of the netbook. I tried to tighten the two screws on each side and notice they are tight. What I found out was the nuts for which the screw go into are pressed in at the bottom of the netbook had all come loose. How can a tiny screw be used for securing the heavy weight of the LCD display panel. This is design issue. This is from normal everyday use. I would have given this a zero star rating but that was not possible. I will look elsewhere and avoid Gigabyte.

(More customer reviews)Once again Toshiba re-defines the marketplace with this incredibly powerful lightweight laptop. How can you beat this? It's only around five pounds and packs incredible power at an amazing price. It's a great deal by the best laptop maker out there. The positives totally outweigh the negatives, but I will mention the few problems. The system makes more fan noise than most other models. If the system were more expensive this would be a deal breaker, but again, this powerful laptop is cheap! The other problem is how the system performs out of the box. As usual the system comes with a ton of pre-installed garbage. It took me 4-8 hours to wipe the hard drive, re-image it with a clean OS, and install the Toshiba drivers. Once this was complete the system worked to my satisfaction. This would be a five star review if the system worked well out of the box. All things considered, Toshiba strikes again!

I can do everything I wanted from a docking station "except" charge my laptop battery. I have hooked up a huge monitor, wireless keyboard, mouse & usb speakers (can hook up a printer also, I just have no need) and was HALF the price. It worked great straight out of the box but I did insert disk for drivers "just in case" and did run into a small problem when windows said installation failed but then Vista went right out to the internet and found the correct drivers and smooth sailing from then on. Now I can come and go from my desk with my laptop without having to plug & unplug everything each time ... just 1 vga/usb combo cord. Oh ... it IS vista 64 bit compatible and has it's own power supply. Glad I bought when I did, I see price has jumped almost 20.00 from what I paid just 10 days ago ... but it is definitely worth it!!!!!

(More customer reviews)Alright, I have to admit that straight out of the box I thought I was never going to be able to use this thing! The keys seemed terribly small and my fingers aren't the most delicate things on this planet.
After a couple of days, I'm falling in love. This keyboard has a lot of advantages over other 'portable' keyboards.
Size: Truly portable. Comparing it my friend's Stowaway, this thing just takes the cake.
Location: If you don't know yet, you slip this over the bottom of your handheld (in my case Visor). It stays in place remarkably well. It's rounded sides and larger profile, makes typing easy because the handheld is easier to hold.
Construction: Yes, it's plastic, but it's well made plastic. Everything has clean finished edges. I flexed my in my hand and it creaked a little bit, but not like it was going to fall apart suddenly.
In conclusion, I give this tiny but powerful keyboard four stars. It would have earned the coveted five star rating if it's keys were just a smudge bigger, or spaced out a bit more. If you have small fingers and great fine motor skills, you'll be typing out page-long emails in no time.

(More customer reviews)Why write a review on a product so old? Because I still use the old PDA, until my wireless telephone provider lets me upgrade my phone. This sleek keyboard works through the IR port on the Palm. The keyboard buttons are a little small and the space key is split. It takes some getting used to but the keystrokes are accurate. It 'converts' the PDA to a tiny 'laptop'.
Set up takes about 30 seconds to open the case, lock the keyboard and pull the stand. Then you take out the metallic supports for the PDA. It is stable and the PDA does not rock. Software driver loads on the PDA to activate it. There is a conflict when the driver is activated and you surf the net on the PDA.
Other than that, I recommend this item. That is, if you still have a Palm. Ha Ha!

(More customer reviews)This is indeed the newer Allegro FW400A, and it is working perfectly in a new Dual 2.7 G5 Power Mac. I purchased this card to pamper a Firewire audio interface, which it does well, leaving my native Firewire ports for other things like hard drives, iPods, etc.
Installation was zero effort. Just open up the computer and pop it into an empty PCI slot. Mac OS X 10.4.1 requires no drivers. The ports simply show up as standard Firewire, not even some stepchild class sub-set, just Firewire. Can't ask for more.
But you do get a little more. My audio interface has many power options: Firewire bus power, portable battery power, or AC adapter. Since I was switching to a PCI solution, I thought I'd need to start using the AC adapter. But the Allegro FW400A supplies sufficient bus power to run a MOTU Traveler! I didn't even realize this until after I'd spent a day working with it, then noticed the AC adapter was still sitting in the box. I hadn't expected this since the card has no option to connect hard drive style power leads inside the computer. Apparently, this is not necessary, at least for certain devices. The audio interface seems perfectly happy. It continues to run without a single hitch at low latency (64 samples).
Highly recommended, especially when a good Firewire hub costs nearly twice as much, but your devices would still be sharing one bus.
